    While I agree that these idjits need to be punished a strange item at the end of the article made me wonder...when and why did "improper food storage" become a crime?

    (National park, bear area, not using the food locker?)

    I always knew it was stupid and you could easily get yourself mauled. (A not so bright cousin-in-law is missing part of his face due to sleeping on top of a crumb-covered picnic table in grizzley country) Just don't see why it's a "crime". I suppose it's one of those many statutes that are brought out to "pile on" the charges.
