    Should I upgrade to Alta/Bird?

I've got my Bird pass, and it's an extra $200 to upgrade to Alta.

    Should I do it?

    - I'm primarily a snowboarder who bought skis last year. I've skied maybe 10 days total my whole life, most of that over 10 years ago. Bottom line: I suck, and imagine I'll be plenty challenged at the Bird.

    - I'm unemployed. I've got lots of time to hit the 'Ta, but bling is in short supply.

    - My ski boots, which were free, are old and a bit too big. I could use the money toward a new pair. Which would prolly help my skiing more than hitting Alta.

    - With a Bird pass, Alta is $20/day. Will I go there more than 10 days?

    - And finally: Do I really want to support Alta? Their no-snowboarding rule is basically a marketing decision. Which is their business, and is cool, but if that's the case I don't think I want to support that decision.

IMO - i would just go for the $20 a day deal. you know that it will be well worth that just to hang/rip it up with the wildcat crew on a serious pow day.

Since money is an issue and since you're not sure if you're going to ski a lot, I'd just stick with the Bird pass. The Bird has plenty of terrain for you to try on skis. Plus, much of the good stuff at Alta requires hiking, so I'd wait until you're more comfortable on skis--then you can enjoy all of Alta.

If you find that you've got bit by the ski bug this season, then get an Alta/Bird pass next year.

If you plan on 10 or more days at Alta, then it is a no brainer.

Personally, from what I know about you, any good pow days will be on the board, so spend the $20 when you go hit Alta.

Funemployment only will fly so much with that new house and your wife.

    My 2 cents.

I would agree with everyone else, in fact, had i known Alta was only $20 with a bird pass, I might have only got the Bird, but alas, I have both. I think I'll hit Alta plenty though.

    Hey Jay,
Skiing/riding is about the people in many ways. The crew at Alta is unparalleled in the world of glisse - if you can swing it, get the Alta upgrade - I can already tell that you're going to rip on two sticks and you'll adopt Alta as your home when you do. Definitely hit Alta when McWop, myself, woodsy, pinner and co. are there in early December.

The bird just feels like Vail to me with more snow and steeps, but the fag bags and southern accents are tough to take - Alta is heaven on fucking earth - heaven!!!, I say

I remember a day last year where myself Spats Endless and Borderline waited for 20 minutes only to never see him the rest of the day.

I arrive 12/10 at SLC aroung 11am, and will hopefully get in a half day. I leave 12/14 and will at least ski in the morning. That leaves me with 3 full days. Praying for snow.

I will be bringing the Video camera to film some casual porn. Be great to have some people star in it.

Stall, Mcwop, etc. Let me know as well, I'll be there at least half days every day. Buzz, it'll be good to ski with other recent bad knee crew.

Jay, just buy the damn thing, it's good.

Thanks for all the thoughtful advice, you monkey fuckers.

    Woodsy, facking hilarious.

Lumpy, I'll tell you how casting is going Saturday.

phUnk, it will be different. With me on skis y'all will have to wait 30 minutes never to see me again.

    Karl, I'll be there.

I think I'm gonna skip it. But we'll see how it fits into the uberbudget.

Though it would be funny to tool around Alta on snowblades talking about how rad it is there are no boarders around.
