.A COLD...MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL MOVE OVER THE AREA TONIGHT
LOWERING THE SNOW LEVELS AND GENERATING PLENTY OF SHOWERS. THIS
PATTERN WILL CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY EVENING. THIS WILL BRING ABOUT
THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL OF THE SEASON FOR THE CASCADES.

...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM PDT SATURDAY FOR THE WEST SLOPES
OF THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL CASCADES..

THE SNOW LEVEL EARLY FRIDAY EVENING WAS NEAR 5000 FEET WITH SCATTERED
SHOWERS THROUGHOUT THE CASCADES. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL DROP TO AROUND
3500 FEET BEFORE MORNING WITH THE SHOWER ACTIVITY INCREASING
OVERNIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH SATURDAY. LOCAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
OF 6 TO 10 INCHES ARE EXPECTED BETWEEN TONIGHT AND SATURDAY EVENING.

ALTHOUGH SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED THROUGHOUT THE WARNING
AREA ABOVE 3500 FEET...THE MAIN FOCUS OF THE SNOWFALL WILL BE ACROSS
THE WEST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES OF KING AND SNOHOMISH COUNTIES. THIS
AREA WILL ALSO BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE PUGET SOUND CONVERGENCE
ZONE...WHICH WILL ENHANCE THE SNOWFALL THROUGH THE PERIOD. THIS AREA
INCLUDES HIGHWAY 2 ACROSS STEVENS PASS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. HEAVY SNOW COMBINED WITH GUSTY WINDS WILL RESULT IN
HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THOSE WITH TRAVEL PLANS ACROSS THE
MOUNTAINS SHOULD PLAN FOR WINTER WEATHER DRIVING CONDITIONS.
