Yeah, that is solid. We all wish we could make that kind of money doing what we love...

That skate hit was bloody huge. Cannot believe the other skater picked him up, but was also probably in a bit a shock...probably thought he just killed the boy.

I thought the piece was not bad. White is cocky as hell with his rewards and how good am I attitude. I want to believe I wouldn't be with the success and money, but until I am there, can't say for sure.

He's got balls though. I still cannot believe the hit he took at X Games, only to turn around and pull off that winning run shortly after. Gotta give him props.

I had no idea it was THAT much. I would have figured 1-2 a year. He is not even the best snowboarder in the world. I know he is the most marketable, so I expect him to make the most, but not that much.

Surfing gets it right. Kelly Slater is the best surfer in the world. He also makes the most money. Shaun White is not in the same league as Travis Rice.

I guess skiing is sort of the same. Simon Dumont makes more then Sage or Abma.

Not surprised at all, he's a marketing machine. Besides its hard to say who's the best in the world at boarding, sking, surfing....etc.... It's hard to argue with the success Shaun has had at the X-Games, Olympics....etc...but does winning those comps make you the best? I think most people would say slater is the best in the world, but a lot of people would argue some of the big wave guys like Laird are better.....

More power to anyone that can make mucho $ doing what what they love to do instead of a slaving away in an office and the like.

i gotta give props to shaun man. for some people it must be hard to get out of bed when you got millions in the bank already. i respect him cause he gets out of bed and shreds like a maniac all day in a crazy superpipe.

and shaun white is the best at competing.. travis is just the dopest all around shredder. but then you got guys like jeremy jones who will be jibbing one day then riding AK like its his backyard the next.

this is why i like snowboarding. no one is the best. everyone is the best. we are all snowboarding. we push each other, you wouldn't be half as good as you are. same goes for the pros. we are all snowboarding.

Anyways Shauns hit in the xgames was crazy but his run should not have taken first, Podladchikovs (Ipod) run was 10 times cleaner than Whites and he spun big on every hit. The double mctwist 1260 is insane but squatting it out on that and another trick at the top of the run shouldnt have given him the gold.

I think that "older kid" was Tony Hawk, who was an adult at the time of the collision. He probably should have known better, but he likely panicked thinking he just killed a little kid.

White is a marketing machine. It can't be a coincidence that 60 minutes, which is on CBS, ran a piece on him the same weekend as the Xgames on ABC/ESPN. Maybe it was just 60 minutes taking advantage of the situation.

At any rate, I am impressed he is pulling in that kind of income from snowboarding and marketing of his image. There are a lot of guys in major sports not even coming close to those numbers. Just hope he smart enough not to blow it all on more sports cars, houses, and fronting a posse.

Pretty cool bit about his early struggles with his heart, ya gotta think that the fight was strong within him from the get go.
