    Whats colorado's problem?

soo, a buddy of mine was driving across the country to school and got a speeding ticket in colorado. he thought the date on the ticket was the date the fine was due, but turns out it was the date if you wanted to contest it in court. so he missed the deadline, and didnt show up to contest, so they sent him a letter saying theres a warrant out for him. he then contacts them, tells em whats up and that he'll pay whatever just to straighten it out, its a speeding ticket after all. but they refused and just sent him a court summons. what the fuck? you think theyd just want his money (thats all theyd get outta the ticket in the first place).

hes not gonna go, just says he's gonna stay outta colorado. i think its retarded for a speeding ticket. whats colorado's problem?

Its most likely a bench warrant and nothing to worry about. It SHOULD be able to be handled out of state, but your buddy got himself into this mess when he didn't read a legal document throughly enough. His signature is also on it, which doesn't help his case at all...

I'll bet if he goes to court and has the money with him ready to pay, the judge would be more than willing to fix it on the spot.

If he decides not to pay the fee, his insurance company could find out and give him trouble. I had a friend not pay a speeding ticket in NH and his insurance company told him to wrap it up or get a denial of service.

As shitty as it the situation is, it is better to show up and get it cleared rather than risk it coming back to haunt you later on down the road.
I was amazed at how light and fluffy the powdery snow was and at how the challenge never ended.
