Not entirely to sure how reliable this is but, Some guy on Epic ski claims he called alta and said the opener is scheduled for Nov 18.
HERE
Can anyone confirm or deny?

WIDESPREAD WET SNOW WILL CONTINUE TODAY ABOVE 8000 FEET OVER THE
NORTHERN MOUNTAINS. THE SNOW WILL BE HEAVY AT TIMES AND CONTINUE
TONIGHT. SNOW LEVELS WILL HOVER NEAR 8500 FEET TODAY AND LOWER THIS
EVENING TO NEAR 7000 FEET LATER TONIGHT. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS
TODAY AND TONIGHT ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 1-3 FEET. THIS WOULD
BRING STORM TOTALS TO AROUND 4 FEET ABOVE 9000 FEET BY THURSDAY
MORNING.
edit: Storm totals are looking more like 5 feet![]()

Scheduled 11-18-04. If it stays stormy it may be earlier (enough snow and lift ready) or later (if it storms enough they may struggle to have Collins ready) . I doubt that they'll be able to get the lift ready to open early even if they get the snow.Originally Posted by Duker
Yeah I dont see them getting it ready either.... I was involved in some load testing a few years ago... Its a pain in the arse. on top of that they still dont have any chairs on wildcat. would they open the other side of the mountain without Collins and W/cat?Originally Posted by UTdave

I'd say it looks like they're doing just fine judging by the cable dangling from the towers.

Agreed. A bit too quick on the trigger.Originally Posted by Duker
chairs go on quick. btw, there are only about 40 more that need to go on wildcat. they were running the engine on wildcat today. if they wanted to, they could have the lift ready in a day. as for collins, they do have some work to do, but it is looking very close right now. they were working on it pretty hard in this nasty weather. they have a crane at the base to do some of the heavy lifting.
Hi everyone. Happy snow year. I hiked and skiied Alta today. WOW! Very wet, great coverage. BTW. I spoke with the lifties and they confirmed the opening is scheduled between the 18th to 20th - depending on any delays in the new lift project. See my trip report and pics
