NORTHERN COLORADO MOUNTAINS UNTIL 6 PM WEDNESDAY. IN ADDITION...A
WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE GRAND MESA AND
NORTHERN COLORADO MOUNTAINS FROM 6 PM WEDNESDAY THROUGH 6 PM
THURSDAY AS THE WINTER STORM STRENGTHENS OVER WESTERN COLORADO.

NWS is full of crap. It's not going to do anything but dry up and veer off to the north. Blah, blah, blah....

Ok, so who's up for a dawn patrol at BP on Thursday morning?

    I'm in. For sure.

I'll shoot to be there at 6:30am, and at latest 7:00am. Bringing full gear obviously, cause with a foot+ of new over the thin pack, we're gonna have to pay attention. Hope to see someone, cause I'm gonna have to do laps on the flats if I'm by my lonesome! I'd offer to carpoolio, but I'm going to have to bolt pretty quick after a run or two.

Green Snaab, Oregon plates, Ski rack. Goofy grin. Will answer to Cletus, as you well know.

EDIT: if it really does dump, I'll invoke my powder clause, and take the morning off, which would mean that I have to be back around 11:30am in Denvoid, which means I could carpool so long as we're leaving BP around 10:15 (assuming roads won't be great).

Anybody planning for Fri or Sat? Of course I know the weather forecast is ever changing, let alone within a given day, but from what I can gather the brunt of this storm (edit: for the BP area...obviously, brunt for more western ranges is sooner) may come through during the day Thursday, into Friday, in which case, Fri/Sat may be pretty good too. I finally got some rock skis last night, so I'm ready to get out there.

its better to skin, but some people do boot up...
I might go up Friday or Sat depending on what it looks like on Thur...

I also have to retract my previous sureness about Thursday...I think I'll be there, and if so, it'll be around 6:30-7:00, but I can't prommmmise it for absolutely certain at this point. Maybe be able to confirm later today though. Work work.

Looks like it's a slow mover, so I'm shooting for the "Friday after school program" up at the pass. Should be there around 1 PM or so.

yeah, I was just thinking the same.
Thur am looks to be too early. Friday am, or maybe afternoon, and definitely Sat am for a little exploring and skiing. Froggy, I'll give ya a call about Sat am sometime if you're interested.

Okay, I'm gonna pass on Thursday too. I'll be up there Friday at 6:30 am. Then maybe to Loveland for a few early chairs before work. Same drill for Saturday.

I'm really wanting to head up Butler Gulch on Sunday morning, but I might go and watch the big boyz on the kicker at Berthoud after that. I'll be the one with the beer in one hand and the camera in the other.

I'm hoping this time I finally be able to make it. (assuming the storm hits) How much time do you have Fri morning? Trying to figure out if I should go in the am, or wait for the afternoon if iskibc is doing the after school thing...obviously timing of the storm will matter too.

I've only been to Butler in the summer...is the access not real convenient? It seems like coverage was pretty good there from pics I saw last weekend...would it be feasible/worthwhile to try and head up Butler Fri/Sat instead of Berthoud...or Berthoud just as good?

I'll be gone pretty much all day tomorrow, but will try to check back here and see what you're thinking about time...

If you don't mind, post here when your after school program schedule firms up. Assuming it snows as it's supposed to, hoping to either hit it in the am or afternoon (or both?) Friday. Really hope I can make it out this time...

. Sure enough. I just was setting up the bindings on the rock skis I just got ahold of to get ready for Friday, and discovered the "toe cap" is missing on the ski. I guess I didn't look there when I bought 'em. Not good. A definite delam issue. Yeah, intended to be rock skis, but given this issue, I paid too much for 'em when I was expecting a setup with no major issues. Need to try and resolve with the seller now. So, I'm probably out for Friday now as I won't have time to resolve this tomorrow.

I haven't been up Butler, so hopefully someone else will be able to chime in on that. I pass the fork in the road whenever I go to Jones. Was planning to park and skin from there if possible. But there might be a lot of snow on the road even below that.

So, this definitely appears to have stalled a bit.

I'm bagging on Friday am, Mir I hope you see this! Maaaaaybe might make an afternoon appearance, but who knows. Maaaybe might also hit A-basin now that I got my pass in the mail. I'll play it by ear.

Either way, I will be up Sat am early for sure.

I went to Berthoud this morning, got out of the car and walked behind the lodge, whacked at the snow with my pole. Then the storm came, finally, and I got back into my car and drove to Loveland. Hiked up Nix and skied knee deep pow - prolly 3/4 of it was blown in from the snowmaking. Did a couple of chair laps and headed to work. Nice morning.

What are folks up for tomorrow? I might try for Berthoud again at dawn. Then some Loveland laps. Spillway and maybe even Richards will open...

Sunday I'm going to Butler Gulch and then to Berthoud.

I may be at Berthoud sunday am for just some warm up skinning and mellow turns on non avi. Maybe in the creeks east of the parking lot toward the weather station/radio tower thingmajig. If so, I'll see you there Mir, Iski, SP, Yossi/Cletus. I think i can get jennie to go for early am. Hmm, might miss ya Mir. Hope to see ya.

This is my chance to get her intro'd to BC nice and easy so, if we see ya we'll say hello, but then we'll toddle off, skinning just her and I, so she doesn't get the odd woman out feeling with all you maggots cuttin it up easy. She's new to pow, which i can't figger out, when she's been here for at least 2 years. but she's got lots of potential if I make her comfortable i think. Now if i get could just get her some fatties
