Here's Chair 23 at 4:30 today. Looks good! I've skied Drop Out 3 before with worse coverage.

The internet place is closing in a couple of minutes so I gotta make this quick.

Fuck work, school, whatever you have planned tomorrow. Get your ass to Mammoth.

Today was recockulous. Was it the best day ever? No. But it's still incredible here. Buckle/boot deep pow all day. Chair 3 opened around 1:30 and I proceeded to huck my carcas. Too bad I left my landing gear in South America. Sick lap after sick lap was skied off of 3. And they didn't even open the face of 3. That's left for first thing in the morning. From the head patroler: "We're short handed so were working as fast as we can. As soon as we get the rest of 3 open (which was done by closing bell)"...yup you guessed it.

Fuck Yeah!!!! Imagine total hero snow with amazing coverage across the entire mountain. I only hit 3-4 rocks all day. Most of the bottom got skied out today. But there's still a certain area left unskied. Do I have to say it?

I'm gonna ski it all tomorrow. Don't expect me to leave anything for Saturday.

Here are a few pictures from opening day at Mammoth. There are only a few because it was hard to stop and take pictures when the snow felt so good.

    First a 3 picture sequence:

    1. Vets starts 2. hot sauce follows 3. hot sauce passes on the right.

Vets and hot sauce making powder turns on a short steep pitch:

Check out all of the beautiful untracked snow at the top!

What a great first day of the season. A bluebird powder day! It was wonderful to share the experience with Arty50, hot sauce, and yogachik.

    Damn...............................

Hot Sauce always gets the untracked.....I hate him. He once followed us around Kirkwood, acted like we were interesting to him, then ripped the shit out of untracked out of bounds.

    Hot Sauce = Powder Pimp

Vets, nice report and pics. Funny weren't you on Round Top like a couple days ago skiing a five foot patch of garbage snow? This must have messed with your senses a little.

It did mess with my senses. I have been totally tuned into frozen suncupped garbage snow. It took a couple of runs to get used to midwinter powder in October. I also had to adjust to riding chairlifts instead of hiking 2 and 1/2 miles on dirt and rocks. I think I should be able to get used to these luxuries.

Yes, yes, go to Mammoth so that I have yet one more person to be jealous of. I'm such and idiot. To paraphrase the last remaining Grail Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, "I have chosen.........poorly."

Post more pics and rip the shit out of those lines.

    Very nice.
I'm going to go caress my skis now.

SaAaH (and might have some bulletproof manmade snow to ski on in a couple of weeks so suck on that!),

Those pictures make me SICK. You guys killed it. I'm so jealous. Huckasoreass called last night to give pretty much the same report from his adventures hiking up KT/Slot yesterday. Too bad Squaw sucks so much they can't be bothered to open for another 30 DAYS. FUCKERS!!!

Enjoy your lift-accessed laps this weekend.

only adding salt in my non-skiing wound right now....my only solace is another storm forecast for next week so I can finally get some turns in next Thurs Fri. Yoga, anyone else, let me know if you want to ride up next week in the mystery machine
