    Dell Notebooks

Don't know if anyone is interested, but..

Dell is having a one day sale online for Inspirion notebooks. $750 off any notebook that sells for $1500 +. So you can customize a notebook to just over $1500 (full price/no discounts) then add the coupon code bringing the price down to just over $750 (then add tax and shipping). After you recieve the notebook you will also get a $49 mail-in rebate for the shipping costs.

    Coupon code is ZD5$P0NS954P16

Not sure what people think about Dell notebooks and such, but it is too good a deal not to let anyone know about.

    Coupon expires 10/20 at 05:59:59

(I don't work for Dell or any computer company for that matter)

If that's for real, it's a hell of a deal.

I've made every post to TGR from one for the last year, so it obviously won't do much toward making you more coherent, but it seems to work ok.
    It's idomatic, beatch.

Cool. I ordered myself a system, and should get it the first week on November.

I can hardly wait and will probably crash the dell website by going there all the time to check on manufacturing updates.

It was still available at 4:09 PM Mountain time this afternoon. I had a whole 5160 system customized for about $1500 after the 750 discount. I had gone through the credit qualification and everything. When their computer program didn't extend the interest-free offer through Feb for me, I decided against it. I showed them.
I'll have to wait for the next good deal to come along. BTW, thanks for the heads-up, frerad.

The Inspiron's a "decent" home laptop - but I've got a nice desktop for that...The Inspiron doesn't suit my needs very well for a work laptop. Not really suited for a networking environment...But obviously, it IS a great deal.

Thats what I wanted the inspiron for... my desktop is 500mhz and my home laptop is a 1.6ghz toshiba but it doesnt like me.

Only need the laptop to be portable on occaison (rare trip, over to a friends, school)

Otherwise its portability is upstairs vs my room.

5160 woulda been perfect if it hadnt expired (website said it stopped at 6PM Central time)

Thanks for the headsup. Thats a really awesome deal.

Next time you hear of that let me know.

everything is disqualified except the lowest system (which you cant make cost enough for the coupon to work) and the most expensive system XPS which is waaaaaaay overpriced (2300 for starters)

    oh well... thanks!

next time that offer comes up though....

Odd. The deal was active when I bought mine this morning. I customized the 5160 to just over $1500. The coupon deal said it would run till 10/20, but apparently it only ran until the end of business day today.

Sorry. I'll keep an eye out for any similar deals.

I bet they had a quota for each model...they pulled the coupon at different times of the day for different models. I sneaked in just under the wire

I've been looking at getting a notebook for about a year now, but could never justify close to $2000 for a decent one. But thanks to frerad I've got a pimped out 600m on the way for just over a G. Thanks, man!

We've probably got over 50 of the Dells (D600, D800) at work and they work great and are way easier to work on than the Compaq's that we formerly purchased. Whenever we do have problems, the parts are here within 3 working days, no questions asked, which is not bad considering we are in Northern BC.

Somehow I ended up with an HP and I've been looking for a user who has one of the D800s I can steal when they are not looking. I guess I could just get crafty and "fix" someones D800 and then graciously offer them mine as a replacement.

    Wow, too bad it's over.

I loved my Inspiron 4000, until it CAUGHT ON FIRE last year, after I had it for three years. No joke, melted the motherboard around the power cord.

    I'd buy another one though.

go through your school. Especially if they have a volume-discounted model. You honestly cannot get cheaper pricing than edu's get on mac systems.
