Where is it going to be firing this weekend?

Some buddies and I have blocked off Thur-Tue for a road trip, leaving from Tahoe. Doesn't seem to me that there is any real clear call for where to go right now....original plan was to go to Targhee and Bridger Bowl since we have a free place to crash in Bozeman. Any locals from that area wanna chime in and let me know what it's like up there at the moment?

Where is it likely to be firing this weekend?

    Alta/Bird?
    Jackson?
    Crystal/Baker, WA?
    Mammoth/Sonora Pass/Bear Mountain?
    Telluride/Silverton?

    Where would you go?

(I might re-post this in Ski/Snowboard if it doesn't get too many answers...)

Personally, I would go to St. George and Vegas and do some riding.

Fuck you both. I know how to read the internet and weather. If NOAA could tell me how the Ridge was skiing, I would have asked it.

I'm kind of hoping that Tahoe is going to be pretty good.

    I was being sincere.
    Seriously.
Targhee was fantastic groomers yesterday, but if we don't get some serious new snow, I think the desert would be a better option for this weekend.

    word.

A quick glance at a couple other locations was also dry.

One place that looks good, central BC [i looked at Nelson].

If I were in Truckee, I'd head straight for the coast. Srsly.

BTW, SW Montana is fucked. Worst avy cycle in 20 years. Bridger is hammered and it's not going to snow for a while.

I know..I was saying "fuck you" in a "it's only TGR" kinda way....

Will add the desert to list of options. Basically I think it's going to be a "road trip for the fun of it" kinda trip since the nipple deep blower seems like it's going to escape us.

Even Mt. Baker. I checked to see what they were reaping out of this pacific flow - closed yesterday and today due to rain. Current forecast is calling for the Tetons to see a little bit of warm snow(3-5 inches) over 36 hrs. I've been looking at traffic cams under the approaching system and mostly its virga and drizzle as it thins out moving inland. Temps under the cloud shield are too warm for snow though we could get some action out of the system when it mixes out the cold air in the rockies. Rain line may rise to 8000-9000ft so our best hope is for moisture to pass over in the cold hours of night. Warm temps and 50 mph winds could put down some tasty cream cheese if we are lucky. Classic Nino trough sagging south and splitting. Usually the Village does better than Ghee out of this pattern because it is colder and orographics are more favorable. The Cali high country could pick up two feet out of the system, so I have no idea why you would leave the one place in the lower 48 with a phat forecast.

After this system, the West goes high and dry until mon-tue, models diverge on whether pressure ridge splits the next trough or get pushed out.

My thoughts exactly. I'm in Mammoth now, and I see no reason to leave the Sierras for the next week.
