Dude, what poll are you looking at? I see them at No. 7. And the Cowpokes aren't going to be beating up on the Utes. The real question is how does a Brock Berlin led Miami get ahead of Oklahoma? Rankings and the state of college football is a joke.

The only thing being applied to the BCS formula this time around is the average poll ranking and the computer average (6 computers). Good thing nobody wants a playoff huh?

    There at 7, not 4.

I am as big of Utah fan as there is, but if they make it to a BCS bowl, it absolutely guarantees no change in the bowl system in college football bacause the bcs will say that the system works because a non-bcs school can get into a bcs bowl game. I am torn because I want them to go, but I also want to see a playoff system in D-1.

Oh, and Xover, it was Utahs first game too. They didn't have things going yet either. This schedule was made 5 years ago. It isn't the U's fault that Arizona, NC, and Texas A&M are down (well, A&M is looking pretty good, even if their quarterback can't throw the ball to save his life). The bottom line is that they are winning, and winning the way they should be winning. Strength of schedule isn't directly included in the BCS rankings anymore, but it does influence how the coaches poll and the AP poll turn out. If they lose to one of the crappy teams o ntheir schedule, then they clearly do not deserve to play in a BCS game.

Xover--quit yer bitchin. The Utes are winning and winning big. Alex Smith is your daddy, Parris warren eats pieces of shit like you for breakfast, and Marty Johnson will wipe his ass with your face. Nuff said.

it's nice to see a small time team up there, but i'd like to see how they fair against some big names that are ranked behind them.

[/skibe takes podium] They didn't setup the schedule this past summer dumbasses! When Utah put A&M on the schedule A&M was kicking some serious ass and North Carolina was not a slouch. It's not the Utes fault A&M decided to stick their heads straight up ones asses for the first game this year. If Utah goes undefeated as they should then we will see how they do against a big time program besides A&M since you apparently aren't counting them as a descent college program. Until then everybody needs to STFU and watch an awesome program shove it straight up the BCS's asses! They dont say "anybody can be beat on any given day" for no reason [/skibe steps off podium]

edit: wasn't directing the dumbass comment towards you APD. Just get tired of hearing Utah doesn't deserve to be ranked in the top 10 like xover thinks.

    skibe,
i think they are a good team, they just need some backing from rowdy fans to play against the larger teams. i've only been to one ute game and it was good, but i think there were only 25,000 fans there. i'm used to seeing 97k on a good day and about 70-80k on a bad one. i don't know if they have played anyone that packs a house yet, but i'd just like to see how they respond to the pressure of both the game and the fans.

Actually, I'm pretty sure every game this year has been sold out except one. Average attendance has been 44,000 which is damn near capacity, apparently you didn't go to the Texas A&M or North Carolina game because those were both sold out, Air Force was nearly sold out.

Next time SkiBe hears from me, it will be Jan. 2 goin' across the High T and all I'm gonna give ya is a big, phat BWA after the Utes just got spanked in their previous days bowl game

[Utes and BYU would go along way to gaining some national respect by joining a much better, tougher, bigger name conference than the little ol' Mountain West AA High School league that it is.]

The Utes are the best in the MWC for sure, but are they BCS bowl bound? Yes, if Wyoming or Colorado State don't pull off an upset. Will they win in a BCS bowl? HELL no.

As far as the comments about crowds go, it's not just the size of the crowd, it's how hostile it is. Why do you think teams hate dread playing at Neyland or the Big House? The Big House has gotten wimpier over the years but Neyland still scares the crap out of a lot of teams.

Xover - I wouldn't talk smack about the Utes when Orton couldn't handle Erasmus James' harassment. The past few games have been closer because the D's have been better. Mark my words: Michigan is going to bury Purdue.

when i say "packed house", i'm talkin about nearly 100,000 fans screaming so loud that you can't hear your self think. my home statium is collectivly called deaf valley instead of death valley. and 13, those fans in the south can be pretty freakin hostile.

edit: btw 13, i think we stole your coach.

Hey APD, you can keep $aban. How's that working out for y'all right now?

See Louisville now? A team full of John L. Smith recruits nearly beat Miami on Thursday night.

Nobody wants a playoff (including players) because it is a logistic and timing nightmare. They already play from August to January, a playoff would require what, another 4 games at least? Playing into February, well into the second semester? They are actually students after all. (Well, maybe not in the SEC.)

The last couple years have allowed a 12 game schedule, because of how many Saturdays have fallen within a given time period. Now that the pattern of weeks will change for the next few years and will only allow an 11 game schedule again, the schools are crapping their pants because they are going to lose an extra game's worth of revenue that they are accustomed to. They want to adopt a standard 12 game schedule. The players and coaches have said "no".

As for Utah, the great thing about college football is the cyclical nature. Everyone has their ups and downs, and it just separates out the real fans.
As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.

he may be high paid, but he definatly turned that team around. as for right now, they need a qb that can lead the team. they're an ok team that could be much better.

You talking about LSU? Definitely a different atmosphere in Baton Rouge but that doesn't mean that the Utes aren't packing the stadium they have as full as it gets. Having been to games in South Bend, Baton Rouge and here there is definitely no comparison with the stadium size and quantity of fans but it is still pretty good here.

edit: read further posts yes you are talking about LSU.
