We got about an inch today (1st of the year) and I really wanted to ski so...
I shoveled all of the snow off the front lawn and boulevard as well as the sidewalk in front of my house and both neihbours to build a ramp down my front steps and the front walk. Its about a 2.5' drop from the lawn down to the sidewalk so I built a ramp down on the boulevard and laid a 10' peice of 2x8 over the sidewalk. Voila instant rail...
