    Apple Tablet

The rumors are flying fast and furious about Apple releasing the fabled tablet sometime toward the end of Jan. The rumors are that it will be 5 to 7 inches. It sounds like a Ipod Touch on roids. There are lots'o questions--price, performance, content, battery life, etc. to be answered.

I want to get your opinion of this new product category. Would you buy an larger Ipod, with e-reader, with limited cpu power and who knows what else it may or may not have. Price is all over the planet. Anywhere from $500 to $1500.

Will you buy it? What price would you pay?

As one who loves both his MacBook Pro and iPod Touch, I think a tablet makes the most sense as a sort of super iPhone. That would be ideal for me, maybe even enough that I could replace the iPod and laptop with the tablet.

However, given that Verizon is the only wireless data game around here, I am thinking a tablet won't hit my radar until AT&T really does improve that map or Apple and Verizon strike a deal.

I'm more likely to get a Droid phone than anything else in the near term.

I just want bluetooth track control for my iphone, seriously, is it that hard? I can't figure out whether Apple just didn't think about it, or whether they deliberately "forgot" to implement AVRCP so they could roll it out in a later firmware update as a new feature.

At this point I'd be leery of touching an Apple tablet as an early adapter, my guess is it'll have a bunch of bells and whistles to make the cool factor off the charts, but it will be lacking 3-4 features that will just make you scratch your head as to why they were omitted. An itouch on steroids does sound interesting though
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

touchscreen netbook would be the bomb. especially if you could choose your phone carrier for the interweb connection.

Tablets have been around, so were mp3 players before the Ipod. Apple's Ipod strength is making stuff with cool design, easy operator interface, ample content store and then convincing people they should pay at least 50% more in hardware costs. They made a mistake, early on, with computers when it came to available content/programs. They're not going to make the same mistake again. Look at the Iphone app store as further proof. I think the tablet, if priced right, will be successful. Not because of the hardware, because Apple will make it look cool with a lot'o content/apps.

how would you type on it? hold the big thing in one hand and point and shoot with the other? place it on your lap and strain your neck leaning over to see the screen?

there is a reason there are a lot of tablet pcs around that havent caught on....

i wouldnt buy it at all... to big to carry in a pocket like a smartphone, to awkward to use it as a laptop
