    MSN Picks the Top Mountains

Just thought this was friggin hilarious. They put a hill in MN as the fourth best mountain the US!!!

    MSN Ski Resort Picks
I was amazed at how light and fluffy the powdery snow was and at how the challenge never ended.

"Just 60 miles south of Canada, this is the closest you'll get to mountain skiing in the Midwest. Lutsen offers four mountain peaks with 88 runs, rock-lined trails, awesome views, and it's right on Lake Superior at the edge of Superior National Forest. While it's no Colorado, Lutsen towers above its regional competitors, with slopes more than twice as high as anything you'll find within driving distance."

Paging Schmear...did you have anything to do with this? I just sent a note off to the Citysearch editors in Boston. Whatever happened to the roundups of yore? How CS has gone downhill since the glory days...

Ha-ha, no. This was put together after I left Citysearch. However, as an "insider" I can tell you that the list was assembled in a way that was "fair" to the different business regions. In other words, the Midwest gets equal time and attention, thus Lutsen.

I'm pretty sure they update it every year. Hell, they trashed my Jay Peak write-up and photo - and it looks like most of the New England resorts have new profiles.

SNOWBIRD SKI AND SUMMER RESORT, The Scene: The higher price and the large amount of advanced terrain attracts a crowd of fairly serious skiers.

Unless they grew about 1,000 vert feet, and blocked the wind. There is no way Breckenfridge is ever better than Jackson. If they are rating party scene, maybe.

When JMO and I left our respective Citysearch sites (Citysearch.com provides this kind of content to MSN) years ago, the entire bank of good skiing knowledge left it as well. Move on, nothing to see there.

Frankly I'm surprised the site didn't just collapse entirely when Schmear left. Come to think of it, is that your handiwork on the Lusten profile?
