Review Dynafit Titan TF-X Freeride Touring Boot

I went ahead and put together my review. I think I have enough info now. It's pretty long so click the link. I tried to be thorough. I hope this helps anyone looking into these boots

I know blog links suck. Whatever

Just to help those that despise blog posting let me tell you that...

    BEST AT BOOT EVER.

I've got about ten days on them now. (two tours and eight inbound days)

They ski like an alpine boot and tour better than my megrides.

Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

Mine just got here last night and holy eff these fit TIGHT. I have an 8.5 D/E foot and am almost touching both sides the 25.5 shell without the liner, 1 finger fit on the heal. I'll put them through the paces tomorrow but I can see a punch in the very near future.
Move upside and let the man go through...

I hope the review helps. I'm REALLY STOKED on mine so far.

I can't wait to do a super long sufferfest tour and see how they do.

1 finger fit on the heel is tight. For touring, I aim for 1.5-2 fingers as recommended fit.

You do have slightly wider feet than the average bear.

EDIT: good review -- you describe the ride well -- but do post most if not the entire text here, THEN link to yr blog. That would be decent netiquette. ;p

I am just going to second the best boot ever comment. I have so much control I am unsure if it is the same sport. An unlike the radiums, which make it difficult to tell if you are in tour or ski mode - they tour wonderfully.
It was all a whirlwind; freeze and flash.
Within a week we had grabbed our skis and hit the road.

You've been around here long enough to know that I don't give a shit about netiquette.

    Glad you liked the review

Lee, I weigh 173 lbs right now. I don't think this boot would be great for a featherweight. You need some muscle to flex them for sure.

    I hope this helps

Ski them (hopefully near your car/lodge) first! And cook the shit outta that liner before doing shell work.

I'm an 8.5/9 and, based on my living room sessions, I was convinced I'd need a big toe punch in the 25.5. I'm happy to report that a cooked liner and a day on the hill was ll they needed.

@ KC - that's good to know. I'd be curious how you like the liners. So far mine are holding up well. Even Intuition koolaid drinkers like myself are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stock Dynafit liner

and Mofro - what nhtele said. That liner is very responsive to cooking. Give it a try before punching.

Boy do they ever squeak though

Any updates? More specifically I'm looking to trade in my Surefoot Factors for something that's 40 percent lighter and just as good.

I'd really like to get out on them some more but things are getting spicy around here in the BC. A CAIC observer witnessed a hare set off a slide the other day. We need some storms to clean out the sugar bowl. None of the ski areas have anything good open either. Not gonna get much testing in for a while me thinks

Huh? Did Surefoot put lead weights in your Factors?

I went for a test tour in the Titans yesterday. They did fine on the uphill but definitely too heavy and stiff for my liking for an all day tour. Compared to the factors I agree with most. They are a much better touring boot. I couldn't really drive them much on the downhill being that our snowpack is shit and in was solo. So, I wasn't skiing anything even remotely fun. They feel like a stiff touring boot whereas the Factor feels like an alpine boot that has a walk mode. I know this thread ain't about factor-Titan comps but thought I'd throw it in.

I look forward to giving them a shot at the resort! Dynafit hit a home run for the target audience with this boot as far as I can tell. The only major issue I had during my 1.5 hr tour was sore spots on the inside right on my ankle bones. Still sore today. ??? Likely some type of rivet or extra plastic the didn't jive with my fucked up feet. Obviously, I haven't looked To comfirm that but that was really my only complaint and it might just be my feet.

Thanks for the detailed write up in your blog, KC.

I had this issue with the ZZeus i purchased last week..only one day on them inbounds, and havent cooked the liner yet, but I did get this exact "heel pinch" i assume the boot is very close to the ZZeus (both dynafit overlap offerings) though is probably stiffer. I would guess its the same liner though.

I read one other "heel pinch" issue in regards to dynafit boots around here somewhere...ill let the liners pack out a bit..if they dont feel right after about 4 days ill go get them baked. im hoping my "large" frame/body will break them in pretty quick.

I have intuitions in mine. I drink that kool aid though. The stock liners, uncooked, seemed nice and reasonably light. The heel
pocket was a little akward but looks be be better than most AT boot liners.

I know I know....but its a slight pain since they require the blowers not an oven...

Not to mention on wildsnow they mention that Dynafit preformed them and they might fit "most feet". i dont have "funky" feet and have never needed boot work done. I've molded liners in my oven, but i cannot do that with these.

Im going to give them a few more ski days as i want to make sure they are "the boot" before I bake them. I know bc.com will basically take anything back, but i dont want to bake and then find out i hate them and ruin it for the next guy on gearswap...

I have Zzero 4c's and although it is a different liner, I had the heel pinch wearing them around the house after I bought them to be sure they were the right boot before baking them. My heels actually went numb. After heat fitting them the heel pinch was gone but the heel pocket remained snug, but comfortably snug.

I've only got about 5 days on them, and only one day when the fit was good enough to really ski, so i'm waiting to review mine.

the good news is that when the cuff release breaks, it breaks locked.
the bad news is that i broke the cuff release on one of my boots already.
