Others here probably know much more than me, in my expereince Cupp on western = blue in colorado and usually groomed. Shay's long flat blue/green except for last 200 yards. Think your GF will love the shoe except for the lines. You'll hate it. It is a nice little mountain top village, but costs a shitload to do anything. Belevie there is a lot of back/slack country at shoe, I've poked around a bit mostly bike trails / hawthorne chair areas.

I'd like to hear more about SS BC. I've never heard much about it. I have heard they will pull your pass for going into trees. Here is a pic of their Mtn bike trails. Anybody hit these?

It's hard to talk myself into standing in line with Southerners down there to pay Colorado prices for Mid-Atlantic skiing when The Cannan Valley areas, Blue Knob, and Holiday Valley all have arguably better skiing at lower prices and are slightly (like 15 minutes) closer to Columbus.

The guy who knows is George Bell, I have no contact info for him. He is best buds with chipper at whitegrass, if you give chipper a shout he may be able to hook you up with GB.

Snowshoe was in full spring ski mode this weekend. Firm in the morning, great from about 1030 to 1 ( Basin to Western) and then slushy and unpredictably grabby. Still a fun time. OAR concert was great.

I'll go back.

Edit to add the bc / dc is done for the season unless there a major storm. Looks like lots of options with coverage...

Making the most of my Mountain Bike trails being buried. Marquette Backcountry skis have been perfect for this

A skiff of snow only made the edges look whiteish on Wedensday. Took a spin on Tline, hard freeze the night before did not help at all but if you don’t go ya do not know. Waited till 3ish for things to warm up to 40F. Slepped up via Race course/Thundrballs, mostly frozen sun cupps/coral reefr/cheese grater with a few soft patches. Climbing good, ski down not so much. Worth it for the workout, nice day, bad day fishy beats good day at work.

ah, you left one winter too early. 07' was epic. 90 inches fell in 3 weeks from late jan thru mid feb and stayed cold and kept snowing. everything was in. big mama looked like a mini glaciated snowcapped volcano.

Except I moved to the PNW... where I was making turns by mid-November and slayed chest-deep powder at Baker the day after Thanksgiving. Then the following year it snowed 13 feet in March in Snoqualmie Pass, which was an hour's drive away up I-90.

I think the biggest dump I recall is a President's Day weekend storm back in 2003. 4+ feet in 4 days... we were on a shoveling rotation to keep the driveway clear to the road. The state dug us out with frontend loaders and because school was cancelled in the city, I got to stay and play. The midstation ramp was gone, the cherry bowl was filled-in deep and the crowd was non-existent.
