Sad. Quite sad, for me. I've been in Idaho skiing spring hardback post-rain event with only a trace new since 2.28. Generally skiing inland PNW > WV alps 5 hours from Columbus especially when you have free lifties and a free place to stay. Not always though as this week has shown. Get some fellas and post some stoke!

Was at Snowshoe all weekend. Exected wall to wall crazy, but crowds were minimal. I guess March in the Southeast equals people putting their gear away. Drove up Friday night and snow started around Princeton WV and continued all the way to the top of Snowshoe. It literally never stopped snowing all weekend. Just a steady super light and dry snow. By Sunday morning they were reporting 2" overnight, but it was more like 4-6. Had my kids and with me, and the light snow made for some great powder intro. Trees were caked and it continued to snow all day Sunday even while packing the car. In a bit of irony, my wife just had the past 3 weeks off due to a planned sabbatical between jobs. So it figured this was her first week back. Had this forecast occured last week, we would have stayed to witness the storm. Oh well. Get after it if you can. I would expect 12+ to easily occur and the base depths and coverage is outstanding for March.

A heads up, on a pow day I nearly always go to CV resort as they get rotor that Tline does not. Rotor = untracked runs every run, even if its the same run. Just saying.
For touring do not pass up Blackwater Falls State park also which this year has been gettin more snow and holding it better than the valley.

I honestly can say i have never been down a run at tline or cv.....its all about the trees...only run up here for storms...
And this one is producing

Thinking about playing hooky tomorrow..... Let us know how things are skiing! The base in the trees at Tline was bomber on Saturday so I can only imagine things are skiing great.
"Hurry up and finish your wine so we can go get us some milkshakes"
Yeah. Pics people. Where are they?
Can anybody up in Germantown area report on snow? I'm hoping for an afternoon tour on the leathers but it's more or less raining in DC.
My house in Harpers Ferry has bout 4-5" of manky wet crap, up to sjworm to get some pics up.
Snow totals showing 28" on the ground on the west side of CV.

With Snow-quester advancing on DC area and me lucky enough to have Wednesday off, but not lucky enough to have time to get to WV, I looked at the snow forecast maps last night and saw Massanutten sitting right in the bullseye.
Headed up early this am with a buddy. Motivation got higher as the roads got deeper. Route 33 over blue ridge- this pass was dirt and grass 12 hours earlier. 3 foot drifts on the road this am:
The Nut reported 18 inches by about 10:00. Pretty accurate I'd say.
Nuked all day with very few people there, about 4 of whom knew how to actually ski/ride powder.
First few runs were almost too deep (is that possible?) for the vertically challenged Nutt. But as things got packed a bit and refreshed by wind and new snow, it got faster and better. Stayed filled in and creamy all day. Below picture taken at 2:00. 22-24 inches for the storm when we left.
Blower- no. Face shots- not quite. Too soft, deep, windy and fun to get any good pictures- yes.
not blower powder, but deeeeeep!
this only shot was the last run on the slopes (which were tracked out by 10am) before retreating to the woods where is was much deeper from all the snow the past week and today and fresh lines all day. A rare occasion to ride the lifts... now back to reality and back country skiin at white grass for untouched powder the rest of the week.
