Dude, the Karhu Tech manual has both boot center (AT) and recommended pin line (tele). It's been mentioned 100x in this thread.Originally Posted by daveg
I have the .pdf if anyone needs me to email it to them.

forgot to say that I drilled freerides on mine at 832 as sweet point and tried them in verb last sunday. For what the snow allowed to do (not so much, admittedly..) I was 100% satisfied. Jaks were stable, easy, forgiving, floated well and felt shorter than 190. At the beginning I was scared because was using my AT boots (Lowa with only 3 buckles), but I never had the feeling that more beefy boots were needed

it's nice to see how they're made.
Had my Jak's mounted at White Pine Touring in Park City. Guy named Chris and another guy named Gordon? Doug? or something. After talking with them for a while I felt confident enough to get the sticks out of the car and bring them in.
When putting them next to my 186cm Mojo's and my 193 cm Monster 85's (freeride binder) they looked a bit more forward than the Monsters and not nearly the center mount of the Mojo's. A split down the middle.
After skiing them on the Pfeifferhorn, I really dug them. Having the mount a bit more forward than my Monsters, it was a little easier to get them around while hop turning down 55 degree neve. They were nice in the pow lower down in the trees. I'm wondering if I'll feel a bit in the front seat when skiing deep wind heavy pow, but otherwise I'm stoked.
my $02

i mounted mine at 840 and I gotta say they freaking rip.
im only 172cms so they are a big ski for me but man do they fly.
having them mounted 8mm forward makes astomping the lands easy as pie.
great buy in my mind. ps graphite wax makes those skis fly.
I'm torn between both size. I'm a level II.5 - in between. I've heard the ride shorter than the advertise - any thoughts? I'm 6'3" 215, but still getting comfortable in deep shoots and heavy powder like we've been getting in Tahoe this year.
thanks
190 for sure. The jack is easy to ski.Originally Posted by camp4040
yeah! It's pretty easy to ski. Go 190.
my jaks are about to get mounted. i'll figure out where i want them tonight and take care of it tomorrow. looks like i'll be on tele for the next week. remeber there's no shame in abusing someone's pro form if they approach you first.![]()

and now the bummer. they're mounted and they're damaged from the factory. looks like heat damage from being on the belt too long. oh well, i'll see how the warranty department is.

Sucks they're damaged from the factory, APD. I think I may have to have mine moved back a few cm... They're several cm forward of the Karhu recommendation, my mount really isn't at the sweet spot. The guy at sportsden started with the boot centerline at the fuckin tele toe point, and worked back from there. After I told him "further back" about 10 times, it put a warped perspective on the whole mount. Oh well. I'm also thinking about putting my extra pair of Looks on them, and just making them an Alpine rig.
gramps,
if you haven't noticed it from skiing them yet then don't worry about it. they will just be a little turny. if you float fine in the pow and don't get squirly at high speeds then don't think twice about it.
That's probably good advice. The long tails are just annoying in certain places, the general skiing is pretty good. I think I'll take em out to Wolverine with the Garmonts tomorrow to try and get a better feel for whether I'm gonna be rippin in those Garmonts, or if I'm gonna need to switch back to the Salomons for resort pow days...
