    New Atmosphere Album

New Atmosphere album is good shit. For those not familiar, Atmosphere is the biggest underground (oxymoron?) hip-hop act right now.

    I'm F.N.G. and I approve this message.

    Thumbs up

they are getting a bit too well known to be as cool as they used to be. they still produce really dope stuff. it was cooler four or five years ago to be an atmosphere head though. don't worry, you're still cool FNG.

you can buy it at the store, then you don't have to worry about who owns what.

we've got a girl from boston here that i work with. she won't even make eye contact with me anymore.

    yeah, i'm not really worried.

so tell me the boston girl story. does she not make eye contact with you because a) you fully know way more about the boston indie scene than her and she is embarrassed. b) you can't help screaming 'Torre can beat up Francona you boston pussy!' every time she walks by. or c) you asked her about her boston cream pie one to many times.

I read it on MTV.com. Anyone here like Yellowcard or Jay-Z? I think they're totally kickass.

Murs is a whiner. Seven's Travels is not Atmosphere's best work, and it came out a long time ago. The new Mos Def is lame. Oh No is decent. i haven't bought a good album in weeks. Blah.

    Murs: agreed.
Seven's: agreed, though I thought it was still really good. For me it was all downhill after Overcast, but what do I know.

New Mos: You think so? Why? I think it's really good.

Not what I expected, but you can tell he's been spending time around more musically/poetically sophisticated people than previous albums. Cool production, too. Some of it reminds me in a way of old Nas and pre-pop Wu tang stuff. Kinda murky but with good samples and interesting beats.

So good to hear someone doing hip-hop bragadocia (sp?) right again. It's supposed to be about you and what you do, not what you have and can buy.

I've only listened to MD twice, some of the songs may grow on me. I think everyone wanted a follow-up to MD 1st album, and we got something else instead. And Mos, baby, you can't sing. And you also need more rock'n'roll experience to pull an album like this off.

Electric Circus and The Love Below and Saul Williams 1st album does the rock/rap combo better.

Mos Def is still the man, tho.

went and saw the beastie boys a few weeks back and talib opened. mos and common both came out as well. they did a couple black star songs.

talib put out a new one as well, but i'm not too big on his solo stuff.

Yep, crappy production. If he had better beats, his albums would be worth buying (see last release w/K.West beats - poppy, but still good).

New new atmos. out in Jan, BTW.

I haven't listened to nor am I going to buy twalib's new album. I don't believe how tough he thinks he is.

Just got the new Hangar 18, DJ Krush, Brother Ali, and Saul but haven't listened to any of it yet....

What about that Dave Chapelle concert a few weeks ago? I heard Blackstar and The Fugees (yes, reunited) played, among a bunch of others. I have no idea what went down, but I hope there's a bootleg or CD coming out from it.
