    Some Jibber Stoke

Here's a few extras from a recent shoot at the Revolution Ski/Snowboard factory in Orem, UT. They have a "Dry Snow" rail setup there. Apparently you can get your jib on there Tuesdays and Thursday. You hike up some stairs put your skis/board on and that's it. There's 2 fun boxes on each side with a round bar in the middle. The 3rd shot is there so you can see the rail setup a bit better.

So if the shots show up in a magazine, he gets paid from his goggle sponsor too.

Excellent ambient light/strobe work. Especially the very subtle fill on the second image, not overblown at all. Do you manual flash and light meter, or rely on TTL? Possible neat idea: A gelled flash to warm the fill and match the sunset a bit closer?

    I mean nice pix!

I don't know jibby jabby, but those are some fine shots, Midget. And I just recently figured out who you were. I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree.

No, since the sunset is behind him it would look "unnatural." The viewer would probably not be aware of the fact that the light could not possibly be wrapping around the subject, but somewhere in their subconscious it would register as "wrong." Seriously.

(Disclaimer: I deal with lighting every day.)

Way to truly LOOK at a photo, though. Props to you.

Seriously? Then why not just have him WEAR them? It would look just as silly, and maybe they'd be a little more recognizable! I guess his Glove Sponsor is SOL, huh?

    Diggin' it. http://tetongravity.com/ubb/icons/icon14.gif

Especially digging the lack of landing if you were to overshoot the box. Pavement steeze!

    The photog listed.

Yup...not pointing fingers or swinging on balls, just didn't make the connection between his obvious profession and where I'd seen his work before.

Phunk - there is no way in hell you could overshoot anything there. Not nearly enough speed to gap all the way to the flats.

I probalby would have used a gel had I remembered to bring them! I was pretty pissed that I forgot to bring them. My best shots of jibber rails at night have come with gels....

Anyone can show up and eat shit on rails on Tuesdays and Thursdays.....(daytime only) however they charge a fee I think....and I have no idea what that fee is. I think they hold a railjam every month or two there too....

I don't dress jibbers. I just take photos of them.
Of course it looks funny, you aren't a jibber with mad jibber steez and spend all winter on one jibber trail.

Very true, but sometimes mismatched light temps can be more noticeable than natural light defying the laws of physics. If you shoot or film someone lounging by a fireplace, and want to fill in some detail in the areas not illuminated by the fire - what colour light would you use? Strobes at 5,550K or closer to 3,000?

Here's Erik's excellent photo with the fill tweaked a bit. (And now I'll save my chatter for the photo forums. )

edit: Just saw your post Midget. This is an awesome shot with your original lighting. It's impossible to carry ALL the gear ALL the time.

I posted info in this place up here this summer, but I guess ,obviously, no one saw it. If I lived in Utah I'd be all over this (and have brush burns all over my body).
