I don't know much about Toronto (except that I'm supposed to hate it 'cause I live in Montreal), but I figured I'd take this opportunity to ask what's up with airport codes? Sure some make sense (SLC, JFK), but YYZ=Toronto? YUL=Montreal? Whaddup with that?

SaAaH (and sure there is a simple explanation),

They forgot about Canada until after they gave out all the cool sensible codes.

I have drunken half-memories of a strip joint called the Brass Rail when I was 19, if that helps.

    Toronto's pretty close to Buffalo.

Ski Professor was from Toronto, but he hasn't posted in like two years.

YYX would be an interesting code from a genetic standpoint. But that doesn't address your question.

I lived just outside there until about a month ago, and have since moved to halifax. Which puts me farther from mountains. Fuck.

bars: personally like the Madison, near UofT. If you can get into the matador (after hours club, don't know where since I've always gotten there loaded) its fun like drinking in a barn bar, since you gotta buy booze off the chick selling them out of her bag/purse

Brass Rail is best strip club in TO, slutty women like any ripper place.

If your diggin on hockey, the hockey hall of fame is good. The distilliry district is near downtown which has steamwhistle brewery, which is pretty good.
Like I said I lived outside of TO, so don't know all the good stuff. Check out www.eye.net for shows and stuff going on.

    Not so simple? http://www.airlinequality.com/Interact/Q1_J00135.htm

"Rush, a popular rock trio based in Toronto, included an instrumental track on their 1981 album Moving Pictures entitled "YYZ" in honor of their city. The main theme of the tune contains a repeated rhythmic motif in 5/4 that is equivalent to the Morse code sequence for the letters Y-Y-Z (-.-- -.-- --..)."

right Spanky! but I think you missed his point on the airport code being too totally random for Canadian Airports. at least thats what I gathered.

Not much to do in Toronto but drink and oggle women. As for bars there are lots on Adeladie and Richmond, one for any type of taste. Queen street also has tons of bars. The rippers in T.O. are not as good as Montreal but better than most I have seen in else were. If you looking to get out of the city head on up to the Niagra Escarpment. The Bruce trail has great hiking. Or if you have more free time go to Collingwood. It's our exscuse for s ski town. It's in the prosess of being Whistlerized by Interwest. If you want to do some mountiain biking I can point you to all the best trails. We do have some sweet singletrack hidden away in pockets north of the city.
