from experience yep it kinda does go soap on ya. or you end up taking a season off the board for some good ol settle time.

just ask divegirl about the "oh you'r that guy" talk at downieville. lucky for me i'm too dorky for girls to hate me long term. i still talk to both of my mag exes. hell one is even one of my bestust friends. and i'm stoked for both of them and their new boys.

ski girls are the best thing ever! well worth the wait. congrats to the new lovvies!

Does redskea count as a real maggot? She waxes my skis, and carries them up the hill for me! And usually arrives at the top before me, too.

No, but we'll give her credit for being a Maggette....

so i got two questions about this girl I met. ok, maybe three. . .

    1. she's definite maggette material i'm thinkin'. She's big on skiing, but if she doesn't "get" the sport, how can i, um. . .help her see the light? (She "gets" it. But not sure if she "gets it, gets it" ya know)? Do i introduce her to the board?

    2. After seeing my posts, what if she thinks the worse of me for my tgr crack sessions? I'd still keep her. but, damage control? i don't want her to limit my freedom, my ski time (and hey, i'm flexible here, maggettes. i can prioritize a little time for her. ).

    so, have at it:

    Pros:
    -Wants to do backcountry.
-Rips it in the bumps. So sexy!
-Understands my need to ski. gets that i need to live the dream this year AND is still sticking around.
-Saw soul purpose. . .loved the amped vibe at the showing!
-Devoted to her bandits. (hey, they may be older, but what matters is if she rips or not. And she does).
-Hotter than a pair of BD Havocs or some Sanouks.
-Gets me in every way. Humor, language (speaks spanish/wants to work in Peru/do good/the whole package),loves mtn sports, the wilderness, even gets me spiritually. and that's not even the beginning of the list. It's insane, how well we connect.

    Cons:
-I don't think she quite gets the "gear before groceries" thing. Ouch.
-Needs a bit of pow training (Cannon doesn't exactly get 2 ft. dumps regularly and she's only just moved to denver). Wait a sec. . . maybe this is a "Pro". I see benefits here. . .
"Hi. I'm TJ and I'll be your instructor for the day". . .
-does not own a soobie. (ok, so this is just filler cuz i can't think of anything that's wrong with her).

she's possibly the love of my life and i can't think of anything i'd enjoy more than both of us being on here raving about 2 ft. of blower the day before.

but do i make a her a maggette or no? it's so committing. . .

Nater, are you just using her to get to Seth? I know you want to go pro and all, but you can't leave a wake of girls with broken hearts man. That's just cruel.

Telekóptero, I'm guessing that you two are going to get pretty close, and at some point, your involvement with this board will come out (especially when you bring her to the summit). She'll eventually end up here on her own cuz she's stoked on skiing and the new side of it you're showing her, or she'll choose to stay away cuz talking to people on the internet about skiing is just wierd . . . So, I'd just let it happen as it will, and let her be involved if she wants to.

In my mind, the way you encourage her to "get" skiing is to go out and have a great time skiing - come up with season goals of b/c lines, do overnighters, make it adventurous, and show her how the addiction makes you who you are.

If you guys connect that well and she's super into you, these "crack sessions" will likely be seen as cute and humorous - it's amazing the things you look past when you're stoked on a guy. Plus, I find it hard to believe she'd seek these things out . . .

This is not necssarily a con - you could start eating quite well :-) As long as she's happy with her gear, and doesn't curtail yours, all's well that ends well. Eventually, if she wants new stuff (i.e. for the b/c), she'll prioritize.

Conclusion to my novel: the board's a big part of your life, so tell her about it. She'll join if she wants to, but keep in mind, we could use a surge in magette numbers! AND BRING HER TO THE SUMMIT!

The domain skidate.com is taken, but there's nothing up there yet. With all the hype about niche dating sites (j-date, etc), you'd think someone would come up with a site for skiers and boarders. Of course it would probably just end up like most ski town bars, with 5 guys hitting on one girl.

There used to be a site called snowlovers.net but it doesn't respond so they may have gone out of biz.

Worse yet, it could end up like this site.

What about you Mags with Non-Mag significant others....do they know about the board? Do you try and lure them in here?

How do you answer questions like "How do you know so-and-so (Maggot)?". I usually answer "Skiing".

for me, no, they do not participate in this forum. last GF and current one are hard corp skiers. Met my current GF @ Alpine last season. But, I do not feel the need to bring into my sick little world here

She is a nurse practicioner in the neurology department @ UCSF...she doesn't have the time nor the interest to log-on during the day....and thats just fine.
