Seeing as I'm freezing right now, I thought it appropriate to shift my thoughts to the desert. So I went back through my pics from an 18-day trip this fall. Figured I'd share the best!
Its like an upside-down mountain range in there! But really words cannot describe...

The Table Rock, in the middle of Dubie, just for shits and grins. This was one of my "oops" moments on the trip: I rowed right over this bitch. Stopped my 18-footer dead and spit me into the left current backwards. Good times...

This was one of the most phenominal sights I've ever seen. I felt insignificant...
Our journey began about 400' below the top of this, and ends just downstream.
First night away from the real world that waits down in the canyon...
In closing, the poet laureate of the southwest, Mr. Abbey, said it best:
"From these rocks struck once by lightening gushed springs that turned to blood, flesh, life. Impossible miracle. And I am struck once again by the unutterable beauty, terror, and strangeness of everything we think we know."

No for the action pics! We didn't stop much for photos at rapids, but we did get some shots at Hermit and Upset.
Hermit, which was pretty small at this water level, didn't yield many good shots, except these nice ones of Rajah busting through the 5th wave.
Upset, on the other hand, made for some great shots!!! Including the only action shot of yours truly, makin it look small in my behemoth of a boat.
There are strange things done in the midnight sun...
The Dark Canyon always takes the smoothest lines, making it look easy...
DD and the Escalante take a little more exciting approach...
And yes, he rowed out of it clean!
Much thanks to RD for the pics, and to everyone who made it such a wonderful trip!!!! Can't wait to get back down there in the spring.

Definitely, i had the chance of a lifetime to go down the canyon last august (HOT, but we were gifted with some rain to cool it down through marble). The view from nankoweep is in my mind the definitive shot of the canyon. It brings back so many good memories. Can't wait to get another trip through that wonderland. Great pics!

If you ache that bad....and you own an 18fter w/ oaring experience,i might could use another rower in March....And you bring loads of medicinal....
