Matt, Here are the video specs that we use for our site. I would imagine they would help your cause elsewhere as well. The videos that we post(TGR) look as good as alot of so called HD videos on the web. You can upload here and embed our player into your site. We use a JW player that we tweek, which is pretty sweet. Here you go.
Upload Specs
Each piece cannot exceed 100mb since that is our max for uploads. The
best and most versatile codec I have found for ease of use is Apple
iPhone codec. You can export straight out of FCP or in QT to this
codec. If you want to create one the following are some good settings.
h.264 compression
640x360 for video size
800kbits/s
AAC audio
Using Final Cut Pro
Export using Quicktime Conversion - set Format to iPhone and export.
Once your file is exported change the extension from .m4v to .mp4 this
will allow your video to be uploaded.
Using Quicktime
Export and set Export setting to iPhone setting.
Once your file is exported change the extension from .m4v to .mp4
Using Flash
Set size at 640x360 for 16:9 material and 640x480 for 4:3 material
Set quality at High and use flash 8 compression
Make sure your file is not over 100mb. If it is split the video into
two or more parts. this way it wont take a crazy long time to load!
Try to use one of the options above to get the most out of your video
posting.
Also,
-Please include a descriptive title
-Include descriptive tags with location and key rider names
-Please include a solid description of the clip
include the location field.
Basically fill in all of these fields. This will help significantly with the views.
Thanks,
