    Going Upriver

    See it.

For those that haven't heard of it, it's about John Kerry's service record and subsequent leadership of VVAW (Vietnam Veterans Against the War).

Having seen it, I have a lot more respect for Kerry. I've always regarded him as a goofy guy without strong convictions. This movie totally shattered that perception of him.

I realize that it is propaganda, and I feel exactly the way the movie was intended to make me feel, but that doesn't mean that the movie isn't worth seeing. It is a side of Kerry that I didn't know much about. His speech before the Senate is very moving as well.

Whether you're for or against Kerry, you should watch this movie.

I just saw The World According to Bush at the Vancouver International Film Festival. A very Michael Mooreish type documentary but with a much more personal look at Bush and his administration. Scared me much more than Farenheit 9/11. I highly advise to see it, although as always with any of these propaganda/highly biased documentaries one must always remember to go in with an open mind and realize some of the stuff may not be true. Unfortunately the director said at the screening that the film has not had a distributor sign on for the states (no surprise)...so where the film would have the most attention it will not be screened. The Kerry film i'd love to see as well.
