    Tourning Boot Modifications

    With all this talk lately about how to make AT boots perform better, I thought I'd throw up some pictures of my Super Pro Modifides [/mtr]

    Garmont G-Rides

    Salomon "Human Print" heat moldable liner - the G-fit liners are really flimsy in my opinion

    Flexon Tounges - Thank to Skideepow, this is a huge upgrade, so much stiffer

    Race Bootsters - of course

    Superfeet Corks - my next set will be conformables or some other foam footbed, the corks suck up too much sweat on multi days

    Nice!

    I've done some of the same mods to my blue Denalis: the Salomon heat-moldable liners which came in my Course boots, Sally race room shim and spoiler, and Conformable custom footbeds. They really help! Sad thing is my liners have some open-cell foam in them, so they get kinda manky on long trips. I think the heat-moldable part is just around the ankles. The BD thermo liners don't absorb water, but they don't ski as well either.

    I guess I should try the Booster strap. I think the grey Scarpa tounges are pretty burly, but maybe the Flexon tounges are better?

    Beautiful!

    Assuming that the power strap assembly is the same as on my Ener-G's, how did you permanently attach the Booster?

    Drill out the orignial pop rivet, thread the booster through, reattach with a screw rivet (t-bolt).

    Power strap on the G-ride threads throught he shell. Drill out the rivet holding OE Strap and thread Booster in it's place. I keep meaning to replace the rivet on my Boosters to hold strap in place, but it's not essential.

    OK... how much do your G-Rides weight now? I'd assume they've gained at least a pound each if not two.

    i think it matters... especially to other people who are thinking of buying g-ridesand modifying them as such when it would create a boot equivelent to a TT or Adrenaline except heavier. If you end up with a pair of G-Rides weighing in at 13lbs (2 extra pounds per boot) then they are just as heavy as a pair of Nordica Beasts or Technica Icons or XWave 9s.

    Heavier than before, lighter than mine X-Wave 10.0. There is a continuem between weight and performance. Because I've been using an alpine race boot for the last 15yr, I accept some additional weight for what I percieve to be a better skiing boot. The main weight gains comes from the liner. I did a week of 5K plus days with this boot and a Gotama/Freeride rig, I couldn't have been happier. Others will make differnce decisions.
