Snowbound, I moved to Vail 9 years ago this Fall from Idaho....best move I EVER made, you won't regret it.![]()
Never argue with a man who buys ink by the barrel or an angry whelk.
Here ya go AC, side view of the second pic, with a little less snow. And yes, that's telekoptero who is well over 6 feet tall standing there.

Brick's Thread Summary thus far:
In Colorado there are some cliffs. When it snows you can put on skis (on your FEET) and jump off those cliffs. Brick has been enlightened. Wow.
I love cliff. I LOVE CLIFF!
now go ski the holy cross couloir which is very close to Vail.....don't slip! The fall off the 200 footer at the bottom will prolly kill you.Originally Posted by Brick Tamland

Brick will just wave his dick like a helicopter and fly away from the cliff!
or does dick-waving only make you ski better on the internet, Blurred?
Cold weather in the Middle-East!
Rethink your plan entirely and go to Utah
This is a good thread. I'm bumping it.

As a native and lifelong resident of CO i would reccommend Mammoth. The east side sierra mountains are bigger, steeper, and usually have more snow. Good climbing/ski mountaineering and you are not that far from the valley.
representin is illmatic
Are you actually going to live in Vail? Jezuz no. I've never been to Mammy, but it has to be better than that place. Unless you're a really good bump skier that likes to converse with dentists and lawyers on the lift and fight Eurotrash for a drink at most bars.
i chose vail. it was not an easy decision to make. in the end it came down to convenience. i had to put mammoth on the back burner, but will always have something to look forward to.
blurred-i'm counting on you to introduce me to the bc out there and show me the way to the powder and steeps.
now i just need to find a room to rent. if you know anyone looking for a roomate Nov-April, pleeease let me know (pref. female, but open to anything). i won't have a car, so i'm looking for a place on the bus route btwn east and west vail/intermountain or sandstone...

Awesome choice snowbound...what's your skiing background? Do you have any backcountry experience?Originally Posted by snowbound
Jobs are a dime a dozen, housing is the biggest thing. Go to www.vaildaily.com that's the local paper and everyone gets their housing through it. GET ON THE HOUSING THING IMMEDIATELY, sometimes it can be a bitch. I'll definitely introduce you to the crew, and if you've got the equipment/skills, east vail and vail pass. -Brett
as for skiing background...i used to be pretty good. then i quit six years ago and started riding.Originally Posted by BlurredElevens
as for backcountry experience...not including the eight hour mess we got ourselves into in steamboat last winter, all my bc experience is in the bowls of jackson. i've been borrowing equipment in the past, but looking to buy my own this year.
