Mounting plates for multiple binders on the same ski (and swiss cheese top sheets)

I was talking to someone who has patented a plate to go on the ski to which bindings are affixed. The plate is standard and aluminium 1/8" thick. So one mount on the ski, and a few of these plates for multiple bindings.
This will work with over drilled skis as well obviously.

Pros/Cons. What do you guys think?
Marginal added weight, too thin a plate to hold binders?

Also, I dont know if there is anything similar out there currently other than metal inserts.
