I'm new to back country skiing in the Sea to Sky corridor. I was wondering what the snowfall conditions are typically like around Red Heather? I'm thinking of heading up that way in the next week or so, and I don't know anyone who's been up there so far this season.
For the past few days the local mountains around Vancouver have mostly been getting rain, while Whistler is getting something like 0.5m a day. Squamish has been showing rain, but Red Heather is at a bit higher elevation, so what sort of conditions might I expect?
I suppose I will answer my own thread, hopefully it will be helpful to some others. The snow base around the Red Heather hut is about 7ft as of Nov. 22nd. Fairly consolidated on west facing slopes in the 30* range based on our snow pits. Snow was wet, typical coastal mountain wet cement. Good skiing overall though
