I think someones little gay photo in the magazine has put their ego way out of check. Jerking off may keep your aggravation down to a minimum....thanks

Castro lives in the midwest, yet still claims multiple aspects of Montana? You might as well be someone from Louisiana who claims they can hang with any Utard, or somebody from Colorado who has let the altitude get to their heads when claiming cliff's, or some east coasters who rock the Spatulas for that "one trip a winter out west"... at least buy Fischers, and support my lifestyle, thanks...

Back to finding a worthy candidate. Why do I have the feeling that most people on this board are either in the industry enough to afford skis, or have enough money to afford skiing? Perhaps this is not the best place to look...
Oops, sorry Bakerboy, I forgot the winky in my post and smiley face in my post. I don't need fat skis, I already have Stormriders and XXX's, I was making the same point as you, somebody in Minneapolis doesn't need SP's when they make it to Colorado twice a year. No offense to you FNG, I have no doubt that your brother would absolutely love the skis and would really like a pair, but I'm pretty sure there are people who live in the mountains that could ride them 4 days a week instead of 8 days a season. If he is going to be skiing a lot in the Cities then he might as well buy some Dynastar Concepts off of ebay for $100.

    Angry

There are these two neat inventions.... Ones called a car, the other is an airplane. Strangley they have enabled me to, despite living in the midwest, make it out west quite a bit.

I've never claimed to be able to keep up with anyone, other than perhaps in jest, and don't expect that I could. Shit on the midwest all you want, but not on the people skiing here. I have probably just as much gear as most people on this board sitting in my closets, if I only use it a two or three weeks a year, who cares?

I realize some of the stuff written was in the context of, "is he going to use it as much as so and so." So no need to point that out to me.

I must say things are getting interesting. Some of the arguments coming up are pretty funny. As for getting use out of the skis I don't think location is very important. I grew up in the midwest, skiing two weeks a year. I bought my first set of used boards as a junior in hs. They were two years old when I got them and they lasted me 6 seasons. The only difference when I moved out west was I got to ski more, the skis didn't change, but how long I kept them did. If I was lucky I would get two seasons out of them before they were shot as opposed to 6. So that argument really doesn't hold for me. As for worthy maggots, it is true that most of us have a steady quiver, but there are guys out there, maggot or not that could use the boards, and I figured you all would be the best place to track those people down.

Let me tell you a story of a deserving Maggot. He skis gnarly terrain on some of the most beat skis I've ever seen (some Kneissel blue and white skinny things) I've litterally seen him repair the bases by melting a plastic grocery bag into the coreshot. He waxes skis when he mounts them and then if I give him enough shit about not being able to keep up on the flats. I've seen him make tele turns in narrow chutes that would have dragged both the tips and tails of my skis on opposing sides (yes his skis are short little things). He got avied last year inbounds and recently got hired as the patrol director for that ski area.

I'll have to check whether that hiring is still in effect (for such is the chaotic world that he lives in). If he isn't the patrol director (or otherwise employed), I'd like to nominate Mr. Powder for keeping it about as real as possible (and living in a shack on the side of the mountain with no internet connection).

I nominate Telekoptero. The guy cares more about skiing then all of us combined. He's truly given his heart to the sport, and he oozes with soul. He skis on WAY outdated gear, (still on straights) his helmet used to be a full face motorcycle helmet, and I'm not talking motocross, more like the one with the flip down clear plastic you'd see through, he cut the face protector off. The guy doesn't own a car, and hitch-hikes from Boulder to Summit county on a regular basis to ski. Last time I saw him, he hitch-hiked to summit for a job interview that he got with A-Basin. He got the job, and will be moving up here soon.

He'll be the first to say he doesn't deserve them, but he does. A free helmet from someone would be good too,I gave him one, but it didn't fit....

now we are getting some good stories, I second both Telenator's story for Mr. Powder and Blurred's for Telekoptero. Guys that give everything to their sport and don't have the dough for the equiptment already to let them enjoy it to its fullest.

Dude what size helmet is it? I have one I never use and would be more then willing to send it to a good home.

It would be cool to send it to a kid looking to take a similar trip that you did.

What job did he get with A-Basin?? I'd say the dude needs new skis if he's still on straights. Geez. I second him. While I have nothing against AKPM, he's already on fatties.
Not on here much anymore. Drop me an email if you want to contact me. Have a wonderful winter!

If it was me, FNG's bro would get them. I think Minnesota is worse than Michigan as far as skiing goes.

Besides, AKPM has some PEs and constanly spews about how rad Alaska is. Didn't he go skiing this past weekend? FNG's brother probably just got drunk afterwatching Minnesota lose to Michigan again.

off topic - adding to FNG's post....

I know people whose only skis are fats, pistols, PRs, etc. Just because the hills aren't as big doesn't mean it doesnt snow. Bohemia averages around 230+ inches a year, although their website claims 270. If I remember right that is right around the summit county average.

on topic - uhh give the skis to me? i'm poor, from MI, and will hopefully be skiing out west next year. Although I did pick up some volant McHucks from mntlion last spring so I am probably not the neediest(is that a word?) person on the board.

Ski instructor... so he definately needs some shaped skis so he doesn't look like a JONG to the other instructors

    Telekoptero!!!

With 13 Rip FNG it would be equally as cool to send a East coaster or someone from the midwestern the skis. Hell it might even push them to do what easy did.

So I have to say give FNGs Bro the Skis I really don't need them (but want them desperately),

but I need skins, obiously my park skiing is going nowhere fast, but I want to get into the BC more but its such a pain in the butt to boot pack up deep snow, and skins will give me an excuse to get some tele gear (who needs a car or gas really?) Can I have the skins PLEASE! ? Pretty Please?

I think the skis should go to a regular posting maggot..that way we can see the skis in action in the photos this winter, and keep the community strong. I know plenty of dirtbag skiers that need new gear, but a maggot like Telekoptero would be most deserving in this situation I believe. We'll ask him about helmet size too, you guys are so generous...so fucking cool!!!

    Exclamation

holee pa-schnizzle. thought i'd check if i need to send out those T2's to somebody and look what's goin' on. . .

sheesh [blush] you guys are the best [/blush]. It's awesome to even be nomernated! thanks, brett and scummit.

if i do win something outta this thread, don't make it the helmet. It'd be wasted on me. I'm buying a Snell M2000 one, offa ebay, in december. Once my job at keystone (not Abasin) instructing munchkins starts i should be able to throw down for it.

[HIJACK] for those interested, I did a bunch of research on helmets over the years, after seeing powder's article on helmet safety certifications and found some interesting stats on how scarily ineffective current ski helmets can be around 40mph, "a speed the avg. intermediate hits once a day", according to the study Powder cited.

a snell M2000 cert'd motocross helmet, (not the lighter, MTB downhiller ones from giro, solly, etc. that many wear) is rated for higher maggot/ette speeds. a little hot, but worth it. I really think this is an important issue and think more should know so tell your friends, eh?

speaking of "eh?", word out to FNG. minnesnowta pride baby! I'm outta lutsen originally, i may have mentioned. moved out here, never looked back. get yourself and your bro out here once you've got your majic UM papers, so we can show you the good stuff!! Rip it!

There seem to be lots of Minnesotans and ex-minnesotans on this board. I grew up skiing Mt. Kato, went to Lutsen once a year. I moved out here 5 years ago after highschool, won't be moving back anytime soon.

ANd yeah I could have paid a lot less to go to school in MN, but for me it was worth it. Although I admit my debt is high as a kite.

edit: sorry for the hijack. Again, I vote for Telekoptero.

Yea... Telekoptero is very particular about his helmets... he knows all the stats and details about helmets. He's the one to ask if you have a helmet question.

Telekoptero: Well if you get the skis, they'll let you slide on your helmet until you can afford one

    VOTE TELEKOPTERO!
