WTB: Canoe oars. Yes, I said CANOE. Basswood? Pine? Whatever?

    So, here's the deal:

I went to the REI garage sale a few weeks ago, and ended up walking away with a Mad River Adventure 14 canoe... for $149. Couldn't pass the deal up. Brand-new, just had a dent by the grab handle. Crazy REI. Looks like a great recreational canoe, and I'm stoked to get it out on the water with the lady.

Just don't have anything except for my kayak paddles... Which are whitewater. So... I'm thinking I need some nice wood oars. I'm looking for something that would be good both on the river (slow-ish moving), and the lake...

Let me know if you have anything you want to get rid of...

You're amazing. Canoeing is fun though, sweet score, I would have pulled the trigger on that without a second thought.

I've been paddling class 4/5 whitewater for a couple years in a canoe, and I have no idea what the hell my paddle is made out of it. You don't really break them like you do in a kayak, so just get whatever is pretty cheap.
I gots the jacket with the blue fox fur

Maybe it's time to start paying attention to what your paddle is made out of.
Take picture, post here. You must think more about these things to progress in the sport young grasshopper.

To the OP: if you can mount oars on that thing, DO IT! Take pics and post!

I recommend the Werner Bandit cuz it would just add to your story to have your paddles worth more than your Canoe.

    Great get GGH,
*Between the Redtail and GreyOwl webpages you can get a good choice for wood-type...but if this is really for OARS..my fault.
Mitchell, Werner, Gala, Echo make good ones as well.
