Am I the only one who found it funny that Cheney attacked Edwards for having very little experience in federal politics when Bush had zippo before he was elected?

    Heh.

If the ticket was McCain/Cheney '04, I'd be all over it, but noooo, Cheney picked the wrong puppet.

    politics period.

Bush had run unsuccessfully for congress before a successful run at governor.

I think the nature is more important. Governors serve an executive position rather than congressman's decidedly un-executive responsibilities.

I'd cross over if it were Guiliani/McCain.

Can't understand why the Blurreds and Gyptians on this board spend so much time defending the present dogshit republican ticket. If your politix are conservative, fine... but jesus, do you really feel comfortable backing the "Cheney and Puppet Show?"

Why has no one from the republican campaign said anything about the accusation that Bush outsourced the job of capturing Osama when he was surrounded in the mountains as both Kerry and Edwards claimed during their debates. This is a serious fucking charge, and the republican's are just ignoring it. If Kerry & Edwards have their fact wrong on this, why haven't they [reps] said so?

Because Bush catching Osama would be the biggest fucking Grand Slam for the Bush/Cheney campaign, and no one doubts how much they want to catch him.

history shows that neither the selection of a VP candidate or the actual debates between VPs change the overall election/vote....they are footnotes, essentially.

with that being said, i think te debate tonight was essentially a draw. if you went into it being strongly for the current admin, you think Cheney won. If you went into it supporting Kerry/hating Shrub, you think Edwards was outstanding, etc. If you are one of those "undecided" voters, well, am not sure that either person scored a victory per se. IMHO, pretty even tonight.

Now, contrast that to the Prez debate last week. Essentially, everyone (except Fox ), even Repubs, acknowledged that Kerry bested Bush.

Friday night should be good. Overall, the quality/substance of both debates so far has been good, comparitively speaking. This is good for the US, good for our democratic system in general. I really feel that most people are engaged this go around, and are payig attention.

It's gonna be close again, but I am heartened that the country seems interested. They/we all should, as the stakes are high this time, and despite what most say (and I am one of them, usually), there really is a difference between the two parties/candidates this time. A clear choice that ea. party/candidate represents on the enviornment, the situation in Iraq (and the judgement used to make decisons of that magnitude), tax policy, health care, a women's right to chose, stem cell research/medical eithics/policy, etc.

    Vote!

Wrong as usual. It sure was fun to watch Cheney get the smackdown he so deserves.

Would you want to talk about this if you were the ones who let this happen?

I wasn't red hot on it in 2000.

Things changed. when Bush was campaigning I knew his nation building stance was untenable. Also, I thought compassionate conservatism was a line of shit.

after 9/11 he finally got on line with using the stick with countries like the Axis of Evil. Rather than the carrot diplomacy of the previous administration.
He also realizes what a sham of an organization the UN is. He is a leader that when pushed will push back with extreme force.

Domestically, I couldn't really careless. I can't wait until the reduced revenues means the wholesale cutting of government programs. I was infuriated by both the Farm Subsidies and Steel Bailout. I also think the airlines should get fucked. He also hasn't vetoed a single spending bill. that pisses me off.

His faith based iniatives are ridiculous. a move to strengthen christian influence on society essentially would weaken the actual christian organizations, themselves.

He has faults, every president does. Bill Clinton didn't achieve one single objective he set out to. Hillarycare was an abject failure. his foreign policy lead up to numerous problems we have today, not excluding 9/11. He was his own man and got nothing he wanted to done. All the while speaking like a babtist preacher. Reading three books at a time. all great, but what did he accomplish. The economy was going gang busters, but not through his actions.
