I ended up taking a dump in your room, but I'm sure all the flies will eat it before your slow ass gets here.

Humble thanks to Lonestar for bringing some levity to an ugly thread.

    My bad.

Actually, this thread has been quite entertaining. But that is probably just my weird mood tonight.

I didn't watch the entire debate, but from what I saw it was much more informative than last week's. Cheney and Edwards both came off as intelligent people who at least attempted to talk about the issues, as opposed to Bush and Kerry who seemed to be competeing for the best sound bite award.

While I am very liberal, and despise Cheney's politics, I actually have a little bit more respect for him after tonight. He actually seems capable of running the country, unlike Shrub. And I don't remember him mentioning God or Jesus or other religious mumbo jumbo (if he did, it wasn't like Bush's constant reminder of his religion). And it couldn't have been easy babysitting W for the last four years.

Still, I can in no way support him. His Haliburton connections are sleazy at best, and I fear they are more than sleazy.

Kerry may be a terrible canidate, but at least we will not have an administration headed by a moron, staffed by religious nuts, oil men, and former Nixon aides.

Wow: that was so freaky. I read the transcript of the VP debate on foxnews and then came here to see what people thought that watched it live. Only Blurred and ND merged into a mirror of that debate with their back and forth characters. wierd

I'd vote for the Greenies in a second or Bill Maher even, if Bush wasn't running. And honestly the democrats that are a certain age are so ready to decriminalize pot. They just need to find a way to make money off of it legally. Thats not so cool, but I love the green in my own way...

    Red face

    I
didn't watch the entire debate, but from what I saw it was much more informative than last week's. Cheney and Edwards both came off as intelligent people who at least attempted to talk about the issues, as opposed to Bush and Kerry who seemed to be competeing for the best sound bite award.

I agree 98%. I didn't really like Cheney's constant bashing of Kerry. I think he said Kerry's name more than Edwards did - not the best marketing tactic around! I went into these debates with a pretty open mind, but I just don't like the Republican tactics of attack and withdraw (and then when rebutted, attack again about something else.)

Anyway, being President is a crappy, low-paying job in which your entire life is aired before the world like everyone's personal dirty laundry. Anyone that steps up to bat to try to run this country deserves our respect and admiration.

I just can't see another four years with a dictionary-toting shrub for our leader.

I don't think this discussion is even close to being heated enough!

Vote? Defect? Form our own country?

I'm still waiting for either of the two to answer the questions that were asked. Pretty good at playing dodgeball if you ask me.

Hopefully Friday nights debate will be even more informative.
There's a world out there full of color, dreams, and imagination. What are you waiting for?

I liked Cheney's delivery, but not his message. On a couple of points, he owned Edwards, but as the debate went on, I he seemed to become a bit resigned...as if he were saying to himself "What a goatfuck this has become".

Edwards had a swarmy way of addressing the issues at times (Hi, I'm John Edwards and I'd like to sell you this car"). But he got the major points out on the table and forced Cheney on the defensive.

The final 20-30 minutes impressed me not at all. Both guys were content to hold the fort by then and not risk getting burned. Cheney didn't want to sink any deeper and Edwards didn't want risk any gains. Too bad.

I thought it was strange when Cheney said he had never met Edwards before the debate.

Our VP, February 2001: "Congressman Wamp, Senator Edwards, friends from across America, and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world: Lynne and I are honored to be with you all this morning."
    http://home.cogeco.ca/~the.dude/ec.jpg

Overall I think Cheney won, but part of that is on the strength of being able to lie straight to the American people. Edwards looked young and unsure of himself at times. When Cheney got all uppity about demeaning the Iraqi's contributions that was just classic and Edwards couldn't dig himself out.

As tough a night as it was for Edwards, the statement that I thought was strangest/most wrong is when Cheney tried to take credit for a reduction in suicide attacks in Israel: "I personally think one of the reasons that we don't have as many suicide attacks today in Israel as we've had in the past is because Saddam is no longer in business."

That's what I saw too. It's just too danm easy to make an convicining argument if you can make up your own facts and present them with a straight face. They should make them swear on a bible or something.
