    Just noticed....

On the cover of the November edition of Mountain Bike Action magazine. Kurt Voreis is on a Santa Cruz VPP bike that isn't one of the standard VPP designs. I wonder if this might not be a glimpse (and there are a couple others in the same mag) of the rumored 6 inch travel VPP that might be available next year.

I have not seen the cover yet but chances are it is the 4X version of the blur (team only). A bunch of the team riders were using it this year, it has extra gussetts all over but no extra travel. I also heard that they are going to produce it it in limited numbers next year. I saw it at the world up this year and it looked pretty sweet since I would not want to trust a normal blur with my weight and penchant for riding off of objects.

I had considered that, but that's a fairly sizeable hit he's doing. Also the toptube appears to not have the distinctive bend just behind the shock mount that the Blur has.

Does it look like this? This is the 4X blur.

These guys are able to ride lighter cross country bikes for 4X because they are so ridiculously smooth. At the world cup this year I could not believe how smooth they were. Over good sized doubles you would not even hear the chain slap the stay, all you would hear is the buzzing of the rear hub. Even if they case something, they will get a new frame. They want a light frame for the acceleration and the ability to throw it in the air.

    I am not smooth.

Nater, also, only the large and XL Blur frames have the bent top tube. I have a MD Blur, and the top tubs is straight, no bend. Same as on the small frame...
