cheapest play to stay in UT?

    hey guys.

this winter me and my friends gonna go up to J. Hole, as i do with my family. but this year my family is takin a break for some ridiculous reason. Since a plane ticket to there costs a shitload, it is easier to just go fly to Salt Lake City and take a bus there. unfortunately, any flight we take will miss the bus that goes from there to Jackson that day. so we figured we'd just ski in Utah for 2 days. so what is the cheapest place to stay there? a place that costs around the hostel in jackson hole.

    thanks

The Motel 8 in sandy is 60 bucks a night double occupancy, and includes breakfast lift tickets for anywhere in LCC/BCC and bus tickets. Breaks down to 40 bucks for a lift ticket and 20 bucks for the room, which aint bad.

That sounds very sweet, but I just called the South Jordan Super 8, and ( with, of course, the sound of children in the backround), a South Asian woman sounding clueless had no idea. Is this the right place?

Didja look into flying into Idaho Falls? Just curious. Every once in a while there is a deal there. (to go to JH)

Extended Stay America, Auto Mall Road Sandy Utah. Me and a buddy stayed there for a week last year and paid around $29.00 a night. Complete with a small kitchen. About 20 minutes from Alta/Bird. For a couple of nights it will proably be more like $33.00 a night or something.

Crash at the bus station. Rent a locker or 2 for your gear. Lock your skis to the bike rack or the folding chairs. Vending machines can provide cheap coffee and doughnuts for breakfast. Across the street and down a few doors is a down-and-out cafe for burgers & fries or steak & eggs. Bring you swimsuit to Snowbird, you may be able to crash the roof-top pool and hot-tub apres-ski.

Truth be told the respondents are correct: look on a SLC map and find Sandy. cheap sleeps and eats. Maybe even a shuttle runs to the bottom of BCW and/or LCW canyons. From the drop-off & parking area you can catch the ski buses up to the ski areas. Have a great time!

This was going to be my suggestion. I've stayed at the Extended Stay on Union Park the past 3-4 times I've been in SLC. There are a ton of restaurants, a Kinko's (for that TGR fix) and a grocery store w/in walking distance and a Kripsy Kream right next door. You can look out your window see if the fresh donuts sign is on.

The location is nice too. You just hop on Union Park and it takes you right to 215. Less than 10 minutes from the LCC/BCC split. Last time we were there they had a special, $229 per week for single occupancy, $10 for each additional occupant.

Fresh Krispy Kreme, cheap beds, and maybe a good deal on a low mileage Outback. God Bless Utah!

I stayed there and they told me to go to Canyon Sports to get discount tickets. No freebies for me!?!

i pretty excited to head up to Alta and shit this winter. It looks like a killer mountain with some great terrain. But anyway, cant rent a car. they said i was under 24 which is age for men to rent a car? what can you do? but i gotta make sure there is transportation now. Is there like a START bus like they have in Jackson in SLC?
