    Lodging in Crested Butte

Couple buddies are taking a trip to Monarch and CB this January. Any recomendations for lodging? Not going to dirtbag it on this trip, looking for decent digs. I hear the town is a better place to stay and grab the shuttle to hit the mountain.

Lodges in town are much smaller and more homey. Cozier. Closer to the bars and food options. In the Elevation, Grand Lodge, or Lodge at Mtneer Sqr you have a big, fancy, sterile hotel with fewer food and beer options, but you can walk to skiing and charge on-mountain boozing to your room. Wandering, Not Lost works at the Inn at Crested Butte, you could PM her for info.

If you want a place in town to stay in a house/lodge style w/ a little bit of atmosphere/ homeyness, I've stayed with other couples at this place called the mule barn. It's nice cause it's in town and a stone's throw from the bus stop, as well as walking distance of all the bars.... I'm sure there are many comparable places in town, but the owners are nice people... http://www.mulebarncondo.com/
