Rant here if the SKYBOX ruined your good times with SOUL PURPOSE

To all fellow Salt Lake mags who viewed SOUL PURPOSE at the SKYBOX.

The venue there BLOWS!! How about the shat sound system and the bigger piece of shat main screen that doesn't allow the quality of a film to be enjoyed because of the weak pixel strength. Many left unstocked because of the less than dramatic pauses caused by the shitty system. They (SKYBOX) could have something going for them if they fix it up into a real venue that can blast the selected tracks, because well...they allow you to swill beers and enjoy yourself. My personal belief is that BREWVIES is a much more quality venue.
At last nights viewing of YEARBOOK at a local highschool - the crowd was more able to enjoy the venue, even without the swillin'

Bum Z did a good job as always hosting the annual TGR event.

Good times with good people. I think Soul Purpose was a bit lacking in the quality department compared to some other TGR titles like High Life, which may explain Spread Eagle's reaction.

    Thumbs down

What's wrong with people swilling beer at a venue? They aren't forcing you to.

If the A/V problem is indeed true, you should have taken it up with management instead of bitching about it on a public forum. Totally unprofessional and totally weak, especially since you're whining about it on TGR's web site.

If you want primo A/V, buy a Soul Purpose DVD from TGR and watch it at home with some tonic water. No better venue than that.

    So fuckin' lame.

SPREAD EAGLE, your avatar called. He said, "English, motherfucker! DO YOU SPEAK IT?"

Seriously though: Thanks for the off-the-wall, incoherent rant. I'd have to say "weak pixel strength" was my favorite part. Heh. "Weak pixel strength." I chuckle every time I say it.

weak pixel strength aside, all the the videos I have ever seen at the skybox are, simply washed out!

so S.E. has a weak point! but a point none the less!

i think spread is saying that he liked the fact that they allow you to drink and have fun. infact, he even recommends brewvies as a better venue for the pic quality. i read his post to mean that he wanted a better big screen and sound system. i can't comment on the quaily or atmosphere of this years venue, but brewvies sounds like it would be a nice place to catch a premier.

I'd rather have the open seating of Skybox where you can mill around and hang with a bunch of different people rather than be stuck in Brewvies' movie theater seating with its narrow rows.

PS. Buy the DVD and enjoy Good Pixel Strength all-year long.

    Least MacDADDY was listening.

The venue needs to be cleaner and crisper to house the mags as well as everyone else. Anyone who went knows that there was way too much dead air space to enjoy SOUL PURPOSE.
Don't give me crap because of the rant here portion people. This is a TGR forum and they should think of a better place to be represented.
RANTing is good and I feel that the response was welcome so FU to all who are incapable of allowing others to RANT on "their" forum biatches

I'm sorry about the audio problems. I sound checked it earlier in the day and it was OK. I'm not sure why the volume varied on the music tracks. It's possible that it was the particular DVD, as I haven't had those problems in the past. As for the picture quality, you're joking, right? The center screen isn't quite as bright as the sides because it's the same projector but a much larger screen. However, the side screens that are still 10' screens look great. Good luck finding better video quality.

Additionally, minors can attend shows at the Skybox, so it gives families a chance to see the movie. Brewvies is 21+ only. The other venue we've used for all ages shows, the U of U, has terrible audio quality.

There are quite a few other people on this board that have attended shows at the Skybox, yet few seem to share your opinion. I'm sorry that you feel this way.

By the way, there likely will be a show at Brewvies in December.

Everyone I've brought to the Skybox for shows always thought it was a great venue - it is really nice to be able to move around, drink, talk to friends, eat, and then watch a movie on multiple bigscreens. I only missed it this year because I was out of town.

I'll say it was weak pixel strength. I couldn't even see it from my house. And they didn't have it turned up loud enough either.

If you didn't like skybox, there's about 6 other Utah shows that you can check out. I'm pretty sure that anyone that goes to a show at skybox knows what to expect. You get some drinks, eat some wings, sit in huge booth seats, go play some video games, and where else can you watch a TGR flick on mini TV screens in the bathroom? It's just a chill venue for the fans that dont want to sit elbow to elbow with the drunk ski bums yelling at the screen, while their kid learns a few new dirty words.

I really wasnt listening, but your post made me think about lack of HD in cheap projectors

I have never been to a venue for ski/snowboard film that has had great digital projection. not even brewvies or any theater.

The fact is that most projectors are crap and in order to get super tight crisp dvd clarity you need to buy the DVD and take it home to your little boob tube!

its not TGRs fault it really isnt Sky Box's fault.
the answer that I would like to hear would be this

Personal opinion, Brewvies blows. I've always had a great time a the Skybox and really can't think of a better place in town that could handle it better. I do prefer Harry O's over all other venues for the pure atmosphere but it sounds like they may be done with. I will admit that I watch the two smaller screens at Skybox just because of the better clarity but who can complain, at least you have a choice. Most importantly, the Skybox has been giving great deals on beers and everyone seems very comfortable with the seating, I don't think we could ask for much more.

(Z, the audio does seem to be lacking at times. Speaker cut in and out, some don't work, I would bet it's the wiring)
