    Wasatch 2009/2010 Thread?

The "SLC Mags... you know what this is about" discussion doesn't seem to cover it. Could some responsible member with >1,000 posts please begin the year's best thread?

    Thanks!

I agree. I am no TGR regular but I did live and ski in the wasatch for the last three seasons and the Wasatch Conditions thread was easily my most viewed thread every year. It is so useful to have a place where you can check what people have been skiing and how the conditions are when you don't get to go out.

And not that I am not living in UT, I NEED SOME FUCKING STOKE!

was dumping up there around 3pm when I drove through the wildcat parking lot at alta, maybe 6-8 inches in on the benches. couple skiers were skinning up...hope they brought their rock skis cause there was no coverage down there yesterday. tomorrow could be good if it continues to pound up there through the night. buddy and i will probably head up the collins lift area in the morning, possible up to baldy depending on conditions/weather...

Lot of people in the Alta lot by 6:30 this morning. Luckily they were all booting it or dragging massive boards with them (read: slow). Passed most people on the way up to the shoulder with the exception of a few going to the chute. 1.5-2 feet of new stuff + wind deposit where we skied. Snow was a bit upside down, likely from the wind, unfortunately. Some rocks made their presence known. Bondage was decent. Got a bit of a sluff to start up by Tombstone, but it only went for about 20-30 feet.

Started skinning at 6:15, passed a lot of slowboarders Didn't see any skin track up to the top so I set one. Dropped into main chute, wind was coming right up it. Top was very scoured but edgeable, lower down was boner city, thigh deep for most turns. 1/2 way up there were 2 snowboarders who had booted, I waited for them and let them score some untracked turns. The shoulder was nice as well, although not as deep.

There might be a cam at the shed by the Sinks, but I can't remember.
Did the Beav put one in yet?

The Beav is in the Wasatch National Forest right? Passed that sign so many times......so yeah, it is in the Wasatch. Get up to Tony Grove before the road closes and get a little hiking action.

hiked up with a fellow mag to the far lookers left chute on the baldy shoulder, up there about 11pm...not many tracks down that face. Conditions at the top were really wind blown and variable, 3/4 of the way down turns got deep and bottomless. No energy to do the boot pack up again from the bottom of collins, maybe tomorrow. all and all pretty fucking sick pow skiing...no rockage and everyone got down safe. Tons of skiers out though. Lower mtn is rocky as shit though so stay where they are blowing the snow.

Went up with shit-I-forgot-my-gloves-sfotex to ski some real hero pow on north facing slopes above the parking lots of the ever elusive secret stashes of one of the most hidden canyons of the wasatch front. Machine-made snow was bonding well with the natural snow. Be careful out there, as there might be some rocks moving under your skis.
