    Video MPEG compression

    I suck at computers.

What is the best format for compression of MPEG video to size it down for internet use? I have some 5min. vids that are 120MB and obviously need to be trimmed back for net viewing. What do you suppose TGR is using for their clips?

MPEG is a compression format. I assume that you already have a huge MPEG-2 file. You need to find software that does video transcoding, ie. recompressing your original file. You can also convert from an MPEG2 file to AVI, etc. if you so desire. However, what you need to do is change the reduce the frame size and image quality of the original file to get a smaller file. With MPEG2, depending on the software, you will be able to change the frame size and quality (or bit rate).
A lot of people earn their turns. Some just get bigger checks.

Yeah, I just need to mess with that (frame size-bit rate) more. I always tweak it to a painfully aweful state.

TGR uses Quicktime. I like quicktime for ski vids b/c Mac users can watch it and you can do frame-by-frame forwards & backwards for analyzing tricks.

agreed - quicktime is nice cross platform, and can serve off of your normal webserver - doesnt need/recommend a streaming server.
