I'm in a dilema...please give me some advice!

For the first time in about 8 years, I have to pay full price for a pass...Yeah, i've been spoiled, really spoiled in the past.

    My options:

Buy an Alta season pass on the credit card and pay it off little by little (as i'm pretty tight for money).

Buy a silver card and pay each time I go.

Keep in mind: I have at least 3 mornings a week to ski, plus the weekend.

    What would you do?

Hands down, you put in the card and worry about it later.

I did the credit card payment plan one season. Good idea in the short-term. Got to go to Whistler a few times, new snowboard and as many lift tickets as I wanted.

Now I am left paying off a LARGE interest rate. Although I feel my experiences that season were worth it.

What do you most value? Good times with friends and powder skiing times of a lifetime or money?? Simple way to look at it I know, but you gotta put your life and times in perspective.

Buy a pass. Money is only money. Skiing Alta 5 days a week - priceless. You should put it on a Mastercard, and then get them to make an advertisement about you. You could make some extra loot from the ad to pay for the pass.

Duder is right... the credit card plan is the way to go.

For 3 reasons in my book. A) You can pay it off piece-meal, B) as much as you ski you will, in the long run, get an average daily discount with the pass that surpasses the other two options, and C) with the pass you can go whenever you want, and not regret buying a lift ticket if the conditions suck... or too crowded... or you are hungover.

i second that. Hey DTM, she's worth it, right?

put it on the card - i'm sure that you'll use it more than enough to make it worthwhile.

But definitely make sure you're going to be able to afford the bills -ON TIME, and pay off a little more than minimum to cut down interest payments over time, and so you're not paying off that pass 5 yrs later.

i'm sure the experience is worth it, but it's not worth risking bad credit either because that'll come back to haunt you, so do it smartly.

Hey, not only are we getting another Utard, but she is smart too!!

    What she said.

You got to get some type of pass. Do some math and see what it would cost even at $20 off a pop. Tell us what you find out with how many days you plan to ski. I would think the pass is what you are going to need.

Oh, one other thing...there is no interst on this card until april of next year, then the interest is 8.2% after that.

I may just do this in the next couple days...skiing with my friends and family is so worth it to me, not to mention i have at least 4-5 days free to ski.

So, your break-even point season pass v. silver card is somewhere like 32-33 days.

I think I might be able to help you out a little bit Altachic . Oh by the way I used to go by skibe but I lost my password and oh never mind it is a long story. The only catch as you know is you will have a little partner a couple hours a week.

I personally think the credit card thing is kind of a bad idea, but that's just me. Hence one of the reasons I'll be touring this winter, but if it's worth it and you can discipline yourself to pay it off before interest accrues, then it's prolly not a bad idea.

Hey skibe! The minimun days this year i can get in is 40, i'm planning on much more than that, so the pass thing is looking like the way to go.

It's not that hard to make payments on credit cards.

hey skibe! nice to see you around again.

AC, definitely go for the pass, but make damn sure that you can pay off the card in a manner that does not incur extra fees/interest/charges etc. Plan the payments out, and then stick to the plan. Debt sucks, by which I mean, debt can really suck you down if you're not careful with it. But like slippy said, it's really not that hard to manage.

    I heard this somewhere recently...

"You can lose all your money and make it back; but you can never make time back"

Or something to that effect. I think Burt Reynolds said it in that Without a Paddle movie or something. I haven't seen it.

    nevermind.

    What's in your wallet?

Of course get the pass. But you already decided that or you wouldn't have asked the question here since the overwhelming answer was pretty obvious.

    what L7 said.

    Whats in your wallet?
    Use the Capital One Card.

You don't want marauding hords of accountants in neon one piece ski suits coming after you for high interest rates

    Dude. Which card is this?

Daddy needs a balance transfer to pay off the remainder w/ no interest so he can have some dough leftover to pay cash for some boots.
