    Steamboat TR

Thursday -- N. Walton Peak on Rabbit Ears... heavy and sunbaked, more did the trip to get my dog some exercise, but nonetheless fun to just be on snow again.
Friday -- skinned up the ski area... took me about 2.5 - 3 hours to get up due to a detour from the new BC lift that was going up, plus the hike's a good 3000' vertical. Considering it's September, the skiing wasn't really that bad... despite the sun, the cold weather kept the snow in decent shape. As long as you didn't punch through it was a nice spring-like cover. It may not have been powder, but I was able to turn all the way down Storm face without hitting rock. Not too good once you hit 4 Points, but still able to get turns down Rainbow a ways. Overall, worth the hike.

Snows melting pretty fast now, but supposed to get some more storms this week.

Nice - thanks for filling us in. I was wanting to hear from someone that had been out up there.

Yup - more snow on the way. New season has definitely begun...

Good to hear you got in some turns. Are you Jeremy's brother by any chance??

Was up near the Never Summer Range this weekend and there was a ton of snow on a few of the peaks up there. Can't put my finger on which peaks they were, but I was amazed by the coverage. No rocks showing, just a deep blanket of white. Thinking about heading up in that vicinity tomorrow. Flakes are supposed to fly up in the high country tonight.

Almost... Jeremy's sister. You probably met our other brother Jay at the Berthoud swap. Jerm's living in Seattle now. Yeah, the mountain here is melting fast, unskiable now, but heard that another good storm is coming this week. It was nice to get up while it lasted (sorry no pics, it was just me and my dog). North Routt has been pretty steady with the snow, my friend said Hahn's and Farwell looked amazing.

Hehe, I've been to you place before...sorry I never met you.

Please tell both your brothers that Mir said hi. I miss those guys. Both total sweethearts and rippin skiers.

    How is Jason's leg?

Heh, I've been to your place as well. Sweet location! Jeremy brought us up the canyon a couple of times last year. Will be making many trips up that way again this year. I met Jay up at the Berthoud swap as well. What a small world.

Oh man that house was awesome, possibly the best deal in town... but the owners put it up for sale so we all moved out... pain in the butt to live in a place where realtors are doing showings on a daily basis. You guys probably came up when I was in my busy season with work... I was working about 60 hours a week while Jeremy was crashing there, it sucked. Jay's doing good with the leg, finally started re-growing bone back in March... got off his crutches in May (5 months on crutches). He was guiding rafts down in Moab while still on crutches, pretty nuts. Now he's moving to Park City in December to work with the winter program his company runs. Apparently a broken femur isn't enough to slow him down.

Well if any of you come up to Steamboat this winter, let me know, I have a small apartment now 5 minutes from downtown but it has a guest bedroom, it's a free crash pad so that's all that matters.
