Crappy pics from my deflowering in El Tunco.

I've been in El Salvador about 3 weeks now and finaly got to go surfing. I went down to the beach two weeks ago but the waves were way to big for a kook like me.

The waves started out a bit smaller but pitched up a bit like 15 minutes in. And 20 minutes in it was getting big enough that some real surfers came out. I got kind of worked, partly conditions and mostly me being out of shape.

Of course, this coincided with the time it took my wife to go back and get the camera. But I'll stop as it starting to sound like I am making excuses.

    It was Rad.

Our camera is a p&s pos.

If it were easy, it would be called snowboarding.

    Funner then it looks.

I'm going to try and take lessons once every weekend and flunder around on my own a couple of times a week.

Good for you! No matter how cool someone thinks they are everyone went through that initial stoke stage. It looks like you did very well for your first time out. And yes, gliding in on whitewater is much more fun than it looks.

It was hella fun. Being as I am not skiing this year I am hoping it will keep me from going through withdrawals.

You are right about Zunzal. I have progressed enough to surf it and it is the bomb, indeed.

Way to get after it. At least you're somewhere warm to learn...and it will easily keep you from withdrawals. Watch it. You might get surfing withdrawal once you leave the coast!

Its funny you mention Walter. We meet him last weekend. My kid became friends with his Girlfriend's kid and then the moms started talking and next thing you now we are hopping in to his van tagging along on his trip. He seemed hella cool.

I've only been to the point twice. Both times in the afternoon, because I got in a car wreak and the car is in the shop so I am on the bus. There were 10-15 people out in the line up. It did not seem crowded to me.

As far as work, I don't. My wife is doing her dissertation research, so we are living of her stipend.
