September turns TR sort of
September in the USA. The Northwest. Only one lift running in the entire country. The jones factor is high. Early storms last week has hit pinned and the need to feel skis sliding on snow great. Jimbo has a gig testing some off the wall ski from Colorado, needs a pair tuned and gives me a call. The skis are top secret at the moment so no pics, but they are pretty odd that is for certain. Saturday early Jimbo, Ben and I head up to Timberline. The early storms of last week are gone replaced with high pressure and cobalt blue sky, temps more like summer. Crater rock and Steele cliffs still hold a bit of dust from last week. The palmer is firm and corning up nice as we arrive at 0830. No hucking to be had, no fluff in the face, but four hours of fast carving helps the transition into winter. Sun, skiing, and beer and jack at the Rat. A finer September day can not be had!
(picture quality is poor, sorry. Streamed down from digi video, but you get the idea)
The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches.
