    They're here. THEY'RE HERE!!!

Brand spankin' new PR's (I assume. I was so excited to see the box that I haven't even opened it yet...) I was heading upstairs to bed when I discovered this long box in the fawyer. I thought to myself: "Could it... nah... well maybe it is... is it?" I checked the address--SALOMON NORTH AMERICA!!!

In summary, after a long long struggle, MY BOARDS ARE HERE!!! FKNA!!!

Ok, NOW, you guys can tell me to shut up.

    Yeah... I can't spell

Ironic, maybe. But it's still a great gift because it's an opportunity to have skis, if not the same skis.

Explosiv's were on my list to demo as my powder/crud boards. It all depends on how the ebay cookie crumbles here in the next couple months. If I see a pair of 2005 B3's for like 350 bucks... no brainer, eh? If nothing pops up, I'll wait 'till Hood to see about some alternatives.

Anyway, I really am grateful to have these babies. I'm even more grateful to KD cuz he put pressure on Salomon, calling em to see what was up, and he always reassured me that faith would bring the boards to my house (which it did). And not to mention: HE CHOSE ME TO RECEIVE THEM!!!

I'm grateful to Salomon for being at least somewhat truthful after the mixup. They said the skis would deliver in September (after correcting themselves once, but I'm certainly willing to forgive), and they did. Everybody came through, and that's AWESOME. I'm grateful because they freaking sent a free pair of skis to my house.

The fact that I want to sell them for something different shouldn't mean that I'm not grateful to have them... should it? I mean, if I can get something more suitable to my skiing, why shouldn't I? Does that make me selfish and a bad receiver of gifts? I had debated this for a long time before my skis got here, and initially I thought it would be bad karma to sell them, but I think it makes sense for me to get something better for my style if they are going to be my main source of skiing for the next few seasons. Is that wrong? I'm not being defensive, I am actually curious. So if there is a barrage of "DON'T DO IT, MAX! YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON IF YOU SELL THESE!" comments, then I shall (probably) refrain from doing so. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure I'd be talking about it - "thanks for the skis you gave me, I'm selling 'em!!!"

But, on the other hand...they're pocket rockets. so none of that "looking gift horse in the mouth" nonsense, and if you can get decent money for them to get a ski with a better reputation for quality and durability, go for it.

Plus, after witnessing the effectiveness of Solly's pro-form department (they similarly took forever to get gear in), I'm not sure I'd ever want to be at the mercy of their warranty department.

get something nice, but don't be all public about it.

Congrats on finally getting your prize, Max. I, for one, am happy for you.

They're your skis. Do what you want. Don't tell the world. I honestly have a hard time believing Saloman is going to get their panties in a wad if you decide to sell a pair of Pocket Rockets. It's not like they don't know the more hardcore skiers have durability issues with them.

The Salomon hook-up site is one of the best pro-form departments around.

Max, sell the skis and get what you want and what fits your riding style. Although you should thank everyone from Powder for picking your letter, but I'm sure you've already done that.

Way to go max. Your a made man now. Here's a tip. I don't know if they have REIs around there, but they do anywhere out west. Just take them to REI and exchange them for B3s, or whatever, which REI carries. It will be a no hassle exchange.

I must say though, the PR sounds like the perfect board for you.

Bossass, where the hell have you been man? Glad to see you're back in action.

Ha, you guys should have seen my parents' faces when I tried to explain to them that I wanted to switch these skis out for something else. They looked at me like I had an arm growing out of my nostrils!

And bossass (psst... don't tell anyone): I make a profit on the boards by selling them on ebay and buying B3's on ebay... thus enabling me probably to afford a pair of park skis, too

But this has nothing to do with anyone but me. So I'm really just gonna leave it alone unless I have to consult about tech specs of certain skis. K?

    Thanks again, P-Mag and Salomon!

Robokill, this was before the wonders of the internet (ca. 1997-98). Very few people had webpages back then, certainly not to the capacity they do now. I made my judgement, combining my experience with Max's experience. Hopefully they have made changes, or I don't see how they'd still be in bidniss.

And Max should do well on ebay considering people are bidding 850 bucks for PRs.

[WHENIWASYOURAGE]Max, don't agonize over what bloody skis you are on, you are still a "newbie". Just keep putting your laps in somewhere and u will get good eventually. When I was a kid, I scrubbed friggin pots in a restaurant to buy a pair 1000 times inferior to those. And thought they were the nutz..[/WHENIWASYOURAGE]

    Max,

You know you overthink things, so just get the skis you want. I agree with Bossass: you'd probably love the pr's - MD9 skied them for the last year and loved 'em.

I have some B3's though and they're good skis.

Whatever you do, I don't want to fucking know until I see what you have at the summit, or take it to tech talk beeeyaaaatch.
