Talk sweet Tech to me-Spatula binding

I'm sure this has been covered, but fuck the search function, i'm too impatient. Got some spatulas, got some 916s. Just wanted to hear what people do about the brake thing. I know Solly doesn't make one that wide and even bending probably wouldn't go the distance. Do you just put on the brakes and have them sit up on the deck or what? What do you do? Thanks maggots.

Yup, it's been covered, on the pmag i think. no worries.

you have your shop order TWO pairs of solly xwide assymetrical brakes (they are meant to be mounted on off center bindings). You take the long arms off one pair and swap them for the short arms off the second pair. You now have one pair of brakes which are insanely wide (plenty wide enough for a spatula) and one pair of very wide brakes.

My shop was nice enough that they only made me buy one pair of brakes.

pretty simple and very effective solution.

Yep, props to slim and LPH for helping me with my Spat mounting. My a-sym brakes should have arrived from mtnlion when I get home in a week. Then all we need is snow!

Additionally, Tahoe mags can get them mounted at Granite Chief at Squaw. I don't know if anyone else will touch them. I think you have to freehand them. The good news is that GC has the McConkey special for the Spatulas: when I brought mine in, they told me to come back in one hour with a 12 pack. The skis were mounted up and ready for me to fondle when I got back.

    OK.

I actually did search and didn't find the info I need on this.

I've got a pair, unmounted, and need to pick up some clamps that'll do the job.

Can anyone tell me what bindings will work with these?

I tend to favor marker and atomics, but I'm open to anything that I can find for a good price on ebay.

I have a lightly used pair of Marker M9.1 from 2000 in my closet -- I'd use them if I thought I could get a pair of wide brakes for these -- do you think that's possible?

    Thanks

Yeah, I figured someone would get a laugh out of that. TT is a nickname my friends bestowed upon me.

Though I do tele more than half the time these days, I'm mounting these bastards alpine, because the spatulas are for those days where you pull out all the stops. At this point, I'm still a much better alpine skier....

    So, on with the advice.

We tried to get him drunk enough in Argentina, but couldn't get the loop on the skins to fit over his monytail.

Yeah, I actually saw a guy teleing on them at squaw last year.

He was with a group on guys at squaw that all ride spats.

Yep -- both. They also pushed me down snowmobile tracks on my XC skis when I was five, and now lookit what happened....

Ok, so if you don't like my binding choices what else can you suggest?

I see the previous post about buying two pairs of wide solly brakes but I don't own any of these. So I asking, can I use the Markers I already have, or can you tell me what clamps have worked.

    Thanks,

    TT

McConkey skis for Marker, so take that for what it's worth since I'm sure he's using race stock binders. I know Marker makes fat brakes, but I just have no clue how fat.
