Nikon N70 35mm SLR Camera w/ Lens, Flash, and Bag

It's getting to be that time, snow is beginning to fall, and you're thinking, "how am I gonna capture all this stoke?". Well, I’m selling this here Nikon N70 camera in excellent condition. Super versatile, it does full-manual operation, or Auto-Focus and/or Auto-Exposure. Has built in flash but includes Sunpak 4000AF Flash with range-finder and infrared auto-zoom feature compatible with all Nikon cameras. Also included is a Sigma 28-105 F2.8-4 lens. A great fast-focusing lens with a lot of versatility and a big aperature for excellent low-light shooting without a flash. Plus, I’ll also throw in a Domke Professional photo bag, and manuals are included. Only issues are that the lens cover is not the original one(but it works just fine), and the camera and flash don't include batteries.

The camera cost me, a few years ago:
    body $400
    lens $450
    flash $180
    bag $90

Asking only $250 OBO I will cover shipping costs, or pick-up in Tahoe.

Oh I want I want! Can any photo guys tell me how good this camera is at taking action shots? I'm thinking girl on girl mostly, with some face shots thrown in for good measure, and maybe a cliff huck or two. I've heard the F100 is a lot better at action shots...but I know very little about cameras.

Maybe I'm a biased source, but I'll give you some info I found using this camera. This camera is super trick for taking action photos. With a 3.7fps shutter rate, you can blow a whole roll of film in about the time it takes your subject to straitline a chute, and you'll catch every breath of it. The max shutter speed is 1/4000sec.(I believe), so on pretty much the brightest day on the snow, you'll have enough speed for a perfect motion shot.

Oh, and the AF is better on the upper model cameras, but I've read a lot of reviews that say the better focusing, more complex AF's are way slower.

The lens is imacculate, no scratches at all. A UV filter is included, so even if that gets scratched, $20 and you're back in business.

    This thread makes me laugh.

The n70 is way slower in all respects to a higher end camera, I defintly would not recomend it to shoot action based both upon its perfromance/ speed and durability issues. However it is a great camera for anyone that wants to learn the basics of photography.

The out of production Nikon N90 or a Canon A2

you can pick them up cheap on ebay, there built like a pro body, and are fast, around 5fps, and focus quick.

While I'm not a beer swilling, spaghetti narfing, schweet stoke capturing maniac like Grant, I do happen to own a N-70. And it works very well for me...I've taken some pretty good action pics with it and it suits me very well. I obviously don't need the same sort of camera as MBS, however, so take it with a grain of salt.

Your stupid ass tone makes me laugh.

Not everyone can throw down for, nor do they need a pro level camera. I know plenty of other people who own/have owned N70's and done great things with them, me included. I don't think that 1.2fps really makes a big difference, and I stand by my belief(and other people's beliefs) that the focus system is very fast, perhaps faster than some of the more advanced bodies. And I have no idea what these durability issues you speak of are. I've never dropped mine or anything, but it's built like a freaking tank.

Anyway, I'm sure you know tons and tons of stuff about tons of stuff, so maybe you know things I don't. I would at least read some reviews here: Photography Review, where some people even say they like it BETTER than the N90.

I'm not trying to rip anyone off or anything. I think this is, as Grant said, an excellent camera to learn photo basics with, including action photography. I would prefer not to sell this on Ebay, so I'll give it to any mag for a fair price, just make me an offer.

Ussing blatent lies like this when trying to sell gear to magots etc really really pisses me off.
The focus system of the n70 is SLOW, especially when comapred to other nikon and canon bodies.
The N90 is a slimed down professional body that is built like a pro body, but at an amerature price. It uses less plastic than the n70, has a metal chasis, focuses quicker, has a quicker motor drive, and a truly better built shutter and advance mechanism.

If you really are ignorant, and didnt really know the differences fine, but it isnt cool to use blatent lies, and qoutes from othere that are totaly inaccurate either. Be honest when you are trying to sell gear here, if you realy think that you need to use lies, etc to sell your gear, than maybe ebay is a better place.

Also Im bassing the facts about the construction and performance of the bodies from my 7 plus years doing camera repair, and managing one of the largest used camera shops on the west coast.

Wow, I don't understand why you're getting all bent out of shape, you're the one that took the negative tone in the first place. You're right, I don't know as much about cameras as you do. As I BLATANTLY said, I am basing all/most of my statements on my experiences shooting a few hundred rolls of film with this camera. How could quotes from other people be inaccurate? Ever seen High Fidelity? "How can it be wrong to state an opinion, Barry?!"

I also am not trying to rip anyone off here, I said that too.

Maybe you just need to turn the hearing aid up.

Oh, I believe managers should have impeccable spelling and punctuation. You might want to work on that.

Well, I'm back in town, and maybe no one's going to touch this now that Grant showed me the obvious error of my ways. But, just to be funny, anyone for $185 shipped?
