They were my old behind the house skis and are well and truely destroyed. Plus did you not notice what kind of bindings they have on them? I only got boots this spring.

were those your mantras in High Adventure last week?

    Damn nice boards
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

Is it just me or does that house in the background of the first picture look to be on fire?

I suppose I ought to put up a full quiver pic at some point, but I have two pair in the shop, one for mounting, and one for base welds.

I'm sure I'll take some abuse for this, but here's my collection. And yes I do like old, heavy, "dead" skis.

    From left to right:
    183 Salomon XScream 700 w/ Salomon 700
193 Volant Powerkarve (will mount w/ Salomon 977 composite)
    188 " " Ti Power w/ Salomon 900 Carbon
    188 " " Chubb w/ Look TX11
    185 " " Ti Super w/ Marker M51 Graphite
    183 " " Powerkarve w/ Salomon 900 Equipe Drive+
    180 " " Chubb w/ Salomon 977 Equipe Driver
    180 " " Gravity Power w/ Atomic CR 614 TD
    173 " " Powerkarve w/ Salomon 700

Rasputin, you seem to be missing the one Volant ski that gets any respect on this board...why the fierce devotion to Volant? (I would ask that about anyone with that many pairs of the same brand...)

Well if I'd been feeling a bit richer a month or two ago when the Spats were up for auction on eBay, I would have a pair of them too. Fierce devotion? Not really, I do love the way they ski, super stable and damp, flexible but torsionally rigid, forgiving and smooth as silk, able to blast through all manner of crud and crust. They are great skis. I think that's why McConkey wanted them as his sponser. Doubtless there were other companies that would have been more lucritive.

I bought most of them very cheap, except the 180 Chubbs and the Gravity Powers for which I paid $234 and $244 respectively. I think there are more people who don't like Volants than have actually skied them, but there are many who have skied them that swear by them. That's why around 90% of the people who have bought Volants have bought another pair.

yeah, I bought a pair and probably won't buy another...although they are distinct feeling - just not for me. I wish they were to my fancy, because they do show up pretty cheap...

What did you get? Some people say that they are so damp that they don't get the feedback from the hill they like, for me I just want to feel like I'm riding on velvet.

Hey, that's a good one. I've heard that the early Volants (early '90s), before the ZMax, were refered to as "slugs on vallium".
