Did he custom a monoski or is it a split board? If the former I did not realize monoski backcountry designs existed. Is bc mono dying? Market pretty small I’d guess.

Sweet quiver for both coasts. How would you compare the CT 1.0 to the Kendo for edge hold, suspension, etc. in east coast ice/firm snow? Obviously different styles of ski but just looking for reference points on dealing with lousy snow.

Both skis have similar shapes with low taper so edge hold is similar. Big difference in weight(183cm CT 1.0 is 200gr heavier than the 184cm Kendo 88 but similar to 183cm Brahma 88) and flex is stiffer on the CT 1.0. CT 1.0 also much quieter on the snow with rubber dampening tip/tail and underfoot with 2 sheets of metal there too(one in binding area and one above base to protect edges etc). Similar to the Menace 98 that I replaced with the stiffer, more powerful CT 2.0.
The Candide 1.0 is almost symmetrical so the mount for traditional skiers is -5cm from Center(-3cm of Candide line) vs the very traditional -11cm mounts of the Brahma/Kendo 88.

Find the 2021 Faction CT line can be driven very hard if you mount back of the Candide line and are very stable at speed. The CT 1.0 and 2.0 are super quiet on hard snow vs the carbon tipped Kendo/Brahma models and love skiing fast through chop. Not many skis in their length or width that would compare suspension wise. With the twin tails it’s easier to release the tails when wanted but not loose feeling when on edge. Fantastic playful chargers. Not insane float for their width as their tips/tails are super wide with their GS ski like shape.

In case you didn’t know, the 2021 Factions were made in Fisher plant where they make their race skis so build quality and tunes are fantastic. Much heavier and stiffer than any of their previous Candide models. Unfortunately, they are moving production into the Amer plant(Atomic, Black Crows and Armada) for 2022 and they are going back to lighter cores and less beefy construction. Weight drops 400gr a ski on the 2022 CT 1.0/2.0 and 200gr on the CT 3.0. So get them while you can! See the CT 1.0 for $450 CAN and some US dealers at $375 US. As long as 183cm length is long enough with the CT 2.0 also making a 188cm.

I will make a post about it, as soon as I get on snow.

Wood veneers are finnish skis https://pusu.ski/en/skis/ model is Narvik (151-117-137 r=26m 188cm), which is now unfortunately discontinued.

Pindungs work great for lift accessed/sled skiing, with just little bit of touring. Skis just like normal alpine binding. You can tour on it, but it's so heavy that I wouldn't dream doing any longer tours on it. There has been some issues couple of times with them opening during touring, maybe some ice in wrong place? Luckily it's really easy to fix with voile strap. These are pre-production models, so this might be fixed for later models. I have been touring on shifts for maybe 15-20 days and some resort days, they have their problems too, some times brakes pop up if just mildly touch it with other ski etc. Skiing vice no problems at all, but I have adjusted it very carefully and always double check that there's no snow on soles. For 90/10 resort/"touring" Pindungs would be my choice, any more touring than that and I would take Shifts.

A-stars are really good all-round skiing when there's soft snow, definitely one of my all time favourites!

Man, this info made me wanna pick up some CTs

I really like you quiver too. You've figured out a type of ski that you like and go all in on that shape - sensible and look good as well!

Thanks! I’ve bought/sold 35 pairs of skis over the last 10 years and have tried almost everything out there so I have a good idea of what I like now. All the 2021 Candides have less taper, rocker, have longer radius and stiffer flex than similar skis like the Enforcer Free, Rustler or MFree lines so edge grip, carving performance and stability at high speed is better than even those versatile skis. Still more playful and forgiving than flat tailed chargers though and easier off piste. Lots of deals on them too so I have paid around $450-525 CAN for each pair.

NoSlow was real close to selling me on some 2021 190 CT 3.0s. If I was flush, I would grabbed just to try them with the racier Fischer-like build.

Still think you’d love them! Perfect ski is someone wants a more stable, better carving 192cm MFree 108 which I think is a great ski too.
Think you’ll rediscover your Pro Riders after a stone grind and tune along with your other new skis.

Insane deals to be had on the CT 1.0 which would be a great daily driver/firmer condition ski. Down to $399 CAN at Skioutlet.ca and $375 US on EBay.
JSkis marketing their new Fastforward ski at this market(rather than the park crowd that want the lighter 2022 builds instead) and the 2021 CT 1.0 is a very similar ski.

This season's roster, from left to right (in order of waist width):

    2014/15 188 Moment PB&J
    2018/19 184 4FRNT Raven
    2013/14 187 Moment Belafonte
2012/13 185 Blizzard Cochise (Rattle canned topsheets — originals were hammered, and ugly to begin with.)
    2010/11 (I think?) 191 ON3P Wrenegade
2012/13 186 Blizzard Bodacious (Better pair)
2018/19 186 Blizzard Bodacious (Pretty thrashed, mostly rock skis)
2021/22 187 Praxis Protest UL -1 (Waiting for Moment Voyagers to show up)
    2015/16 190 Moment Bibby
    2010/11 186 4FRNT Renegade
2017/18 192 Praxis Protest (Because you can't have too many powder skis)
2016/17 192 DPS Lotus 138 (See above. Currently inserted for the Zeds off the Ravens, but might add another set for alpine bindings too.)

The new skinny Protests have supplanted them as my favorite topsheet in the quiver, but that year's Bibby is also epic.

192 Atomic Atlas (rarely used, but very maneuverable for a big ski), 185 Blizzard Cochise, 177 Volkl Kendo, 185 Dynastar Mythic Rider (favorite ski ever), 187 Elan Spectrum 95 Carbon, 185 Scott Slight (worst ski ever, too light can’t carve a turn on anything hard unless you are going 5mph)[for sale!], 185 Fischer GS (for the occasional uber hard day)Click image for larger version.

Damn those Atlas look huge. I always wanted to get on that ski. I thought it was 115, but looking at the specs the 192 was 125mm! Fuck ya

Scott's had trouble making a set of goggles that don't flake tint after a year so it's no stretch to see the Slight is a slight against skis.
