Done and done. Where we are now with touring bindings is pretty damn amazing compared to even 3-4 years ago.

Kid-kapow... much as I love the Wren 108's and tectons, how much does that setup weigh? I'm sure it's a hell of a lot of fun on the way down, though.

I think Kid Kapow is a smaller guy, so he may be able to get away with a beefier touring binding inbounds.

The performance of an alpine binding on the way down cannot be beat IMO. I skied beast 14s inbounds a few days, and prereleased multiple times.

Deep snow skis haven't been out of the closet since 2014.. Elan M777 192 cm 87 waist and M999 99 waist. I also added some K2 233 Mids to my retro quiver.. Skied them last month..

i am 5'8 and a bit, and 150lbs, and the tectons perform awesomely for my needs (slackcountry / resort killer quiver) with hawx130xtds. To behonest I am contemplating getting Fischers new 130 boots next year for a bit added beef, instead of going down the shift route. I honestly can't really tell that much of a difference between the tectons and pivots for charging. My initiual plan was to go Shift on the Wren108 and BG, but time will tell if i do - the tectons work pretty damned well. The wren88s were supposed to get pivots or shifts, but had a pair of tectons extra, so decided to just mount those instead of having to buy a new pair of pivots. The BMTs were intended for soft snow touring days - not slackcountry riding, with the wren108/BG bridging the gap to what originally was the resort only skis (wren88/kartels).

TahoeJ - i'll give em a weigh, but they are not feather light by any stretch of the imagination. Performance wise they are pretty damned good though, so i care less about their weight than the performance after the foray into carbon skis has left me somewhat unimpressed as skis doubling up for inbounds + slackcountry needs.

Only for a bit at Revelstoke to try them out and because we were doing slackcountry laps. But generally speaking, no, my Tectons are for touring only. They do ride pretty nice but I have no interest in hammering any pin binding inbounds on a regular basis. I do intend to see how the Shifts hold up that way, however.

i think i have 100+ days on vipecs and tectons in resorts (both for groomers, fresh inbounds and slackcountry uses), and for maximum flexibility (bring the skins and i can do whatever i like without changing skis or boots) i like em a lot. I have never experienced any issues with the pins or releases, so i guess being a lighter rider they work pretty well for my needs. The lower weight of the tectons together with a heavier ski makes for a killer set up, and 200gr more pr ski for shifts makes an already heavyish setup even heavier, potentially without adding much of an upgrade. I might switch to shifts next year for the tweener and resort skis, might not. Time will tell

i would not use any tech binding other than vipecs or tectons inbounds - or at all - to be honest. Too much of a compromise. I consider the kingpin dead in the water from 2019 on - there is simply no good reason to get it instead of a tecton or a shift, none.

I am a smaller guy (5'9) , and used to ride beast 14 inbounds a lot. And relatively hard. I thought they were great, until I swapped them for a CAST setup this year. Damn if that isn't a step up in dh performance. So I agree alpine bindings cannot be beat. The thought of a normal release is nice too.
I see the use for a one ski travel quiver with tectons or beasts though.

A lot of people sure seem to like the Head Kore line... but I haven't been on any so can't comment. Blister has some pretty indepth reviews on the 105.

Not many reviews on the BMT because they retail at like $1300...

On that note, there's a shop in my area that has the BMT 109's in 186cm for 30% off... making them "only" $900 if anyone is in the market. They're definitely nice looking skis I'd be curious to try sometime.

$900 is still a little expansive I think. I can find them for ~750$ (in Switzerland) but availability is very low (only few pairs left).

Still @750$, for a ski which didn't get any update since 2014-2015... I'm wondering if it still can compete with more recent skis. I checked the Blisters review on this ski but they did the review in 2015!

If anyone can tell me if this ski still worth it's price against more recent skis (which are also less expansive btw), I would be glad!
