In search of the elusive artic powder weasel ...
^^^ Lookin good![]()
watch out for snakes
Do the other five get jelous of the El Capo and Spur?
^^^ I bought the hybrids first and love them.
They kicked two skis out of the quiver, both of which I thought were keepers: Lotus 120 (@120 waist, duh) & Movement Goliath (@108).
The hybrids are stiff and weigh in @~5.25#/ski.
Then I got the opportunity to pick up the pure carbons in a light layup with a soft flex.
The pure carbons weigh in @~4.25#/ski.
I've skied the hybrids ~25 days.
3 days on the carbons; switching back and forth with the hybrids.
The weight difference is quite noticeable, both on the shoulder and underfoot.
Much easier to hike ridgelines with the carbons.
Much faster edge to edge.
Easier to ski steep, tight lines as one can bend the ski into a shorter turning radius much easier than the stiffer hybrid.
More energetic in untracked; porpoise turns and such.
The hybrid is much damper.
Crud crusher.
Super fun in untracked as well, but when the pow is cut-up or conditions mixed, I prefer the hybrid.
The carbons had one mount for my binder pattern at my bsl for a good price.
So I thought, "What the Hell? Why not?"
I thought that it would be fun to try out a known and loved shape in a softer flex.
In the end I think that I will sell my Wailers, mount the hybrids dedicated alpine, with the carbons put inserts into the existing solly holes and drill and insert for plums with a sollyfit toe as a riser.
I really love the 191 Fat; its shape and flex pattern (in both soft and stiff builds) are dialed.
If I had to choose one it would be the hybrid, but I do most of my skiing inbounds.

It looks like your BGs are telling me to fuck off.
Big Line Skier,
how would you compare the El Capo and Cochise?
El Capo is better all mountain ski, Cochise is better big mountain ski. The Cochise will truck through everything and almost disappear under foot whereas the El Capo needs to be worked a bit more. The El Capo is a ton more fun in bumps and on groomers and probably floats better, but it does not mach through the crap as well as the Cochise. I will probably sell one of them next year, just not sure which one yet.
Like your virgin daughter... I heard the Middle East is in the market
